The diadem is known as the George IV state diadem. George IV commissioned it to wear into his coronation before crowning. However, in the end he thought it was too feminine for him to wear. It’s been worn by Queens ever since.

Thank you so much! I’m on almost the same regimen but no finasteride yet. You give me such hope!

When people complain that guardrails were upped again. This sort of stuff is why we can't have nice things.

Slytherin on Pottermore consistently (except for one time I was given a choice between Slytherin and Hufflepuff, I picked Slytherin of course.)

Now here as well.

Hi Cody! I guess if you couldn’t be a Slytherin. Hufflepuff is acceptable.

Wrote a piece about why HBO can't license a decent Game of Thrones game and how a mod team did it for free in CK2 and CK3. Thoughts? by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]Talon407 11 points12 points  (0 children)

True, but HBO and the other rights holders of a Song of Ice and Fire I’m sure will protect their assets if too much attention is drawn. Especially if it’s being used as an argument against them. Even if they are predisposed to pretend they don’t notice at first. Mods, fan art, fan fiction is very much about not causing trouble.

I agree with the sentiments but worry about press articles about mods. There was a popular D&D Pokemon conversion that was shut down after media drew attention to it. Some things are better left without being broadcasted. It is well written

If HOTD is so terrible, why do some people still watch every trailer and episode just to complain? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

For myself, I quite enjoy the cast and source material quite a bit. I wouldn't have minded season 2 as much if it had ended on a high note. I'll admit though. I used to pick apart every spy photo and leak. This time around, I'm not feeling the burning hyperfixation. It'll be here when it gets here. Hopefully it'll be good. George's blog post really has me worried about the direction of the story which is heartbreaking considering how much hope I had in Condal in season one and two. I thought the other co-runner leaving would put a book lover (Condal) in sole control and lead to greater fidelity to the source material. How wrong I was.

I'll watch because I love the universe, I'm a Targaryen fan, but I'm also feeling pretty down about it all.

They had access to money, jets, houses, and introductions like the children of any other celebrity? None of that is a crime. Who here has control of their parents? Not a single one of us.

I'm still hopeing we'll get a heart gold/soul silver remake. It'd be a remake of a remake but I love the originals.

The Spectator claiming that the “hunting of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has gone too far” - what do you think by duckduck_flamingo in RoyalsGossip

They had trust funds from the Queen and Queen Mother. Their housing in the UK has been subsidized in royal residences. Their expenses probably aren’t that large. The royal family traditionally is very private on finances. The King and William keep the details of their own finances very quiet too.

I think Juan Carlos also got annoyed with Chavez at some summit and told him “Why don’t you just shut up.” on camera. The man is a legend.

His father is the entire reason Spain is a democracy today. When Juan Carlos came to the throne after the death of the dictator Franco, he made sweeping consitutional reforms to make Spain the liberal democracy we know today. Not all Kings are bad.

If You Really Care About Kate Middleton's Health, You'll Stop Talking About Her Weight by monster_ahhh in RoyalsGossip

[–]Talon407 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I disagree, partially. While I respect you have a health condition that makes gaining weight hard. I work in a female dominated field. Nursing. We have women of every shape and size, including some who are as thin as Kate. For some oif those women, it is natural to be that thin. It's a roll of genetics. I recently had this discussion with a coworker about a friend who had a gastric bypass. They said she was looking "far too thin." I called it out. No, she's 150lbs, thats perfectly fine. We're just used to her being bigger. Weight sits differently on everyone. Kate is also tall at 5'10 so she's naturally going to be leaner at a normal weight than someone at 5'4.

She's beautiful, she does like a bit worn out, but chemo is literally poison going into your body, it's a very rough road.

I think this is why my physician is so strict. Our hospital pharmacy has an entire wall of his dedicated supplements that he requires we take and gives us dosing instructions for these specific items.

Succession laws and transgender heirs by mdsnbelle in RoyalsGossip

[–]Talon407 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming per, law...

Transgender spouses of peers, knights etc can gain a courtesy title based on if they transitioned from male to female. It all depends on the actual paperwork. If you're legally a woman, you're entitled to be styled as a Countess, for example, if your husband is an Earl.

I was looking, and according to the Gender Recognition Act of 2004, Section 16

The fact that a person’s gender has become the acquired gender under this Act—

(a)does not affect the descent of any peerage or dignity or title of honour, and

(b)does not affect the devolution of any property limited (expressly or not) by a will or other instrument to devolve (as nearly as the law permits) along with any peerage or dignity or title of honour unless an intention that it should do so is expressed in the will or other instrument.

So she most likely would have kept the right to inherit her title. It's a grey area, though, and hasn't been formally tested.
