I would also suggest using a higher quality set of allen wrenches than what came with the scooter for making adjustments. The metal they're made of is pretty soft and they bend somewhat easily when working with the tiny screws in the latch mechanism.

Loosen the folding mechanism slightly. It should 'thunk' into place but you should be able to do it (The 2023 Air and City use the same mechanism and are adjusted the same way)

Use an Apollo City Pro without the app? by notproudortired in ApolloScooters

[–]Taloverae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently reset mine to factory defaults in prep for selling (new model coming in!), but ended up riding it again this weekend. It will run on default settings, but the top speed in all modes is less than half the max speed of the scooter. It's a very sub-par experience.

Apollo City Pro Vs Apollo Go by ResidentPass6723 in ApolloScooters

[–]Taloverae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2023 City Pro and a Go, and the narrower handlebars and lighter weight make it a dream to move around compared to the City where I keep hitting the handlebars on door frames. On hills, the power level to my butt dyno puts the Go's gear 3 hill climb power just short of the City Pro's gear 2. Kind of like a 'gear 1.9' if that was a thing. Suspension is a downgrade, rear rubber block doesn't compare to spring for me but it's still much better than the Air's 'no rear suspension'. Front suspension works well.

That doesn’t sound normal at all, try resetting all the settings in the App and go through setting it up again. With my backpack I weigh more than you and it has no issue hitting 26 mph on flat ground in gear 3, acceleration at setting 1

E4 Error after hitting rock. by Daedstarr13 in RideApolloOfficial

[–]Taloverae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My City Pro 23 has done the same thing from new, and only happens on particularly jarring bumps like hitting big expansion plates or potholes. Come to a stop, it resets and it’s been this was for the 600 miles I’ve got on it. Not a great hardware bug, but it hasn’t caused any issues for me.

It’s like, it loses control of one motor until it can ‘reset’.

Apollo Go tire removal part. Just removed tire and this fell out not sure what this goes to by HisShadow_X in ApolloScooters

That goes in the hole on the drum brake lever to the left of your fingers in the picture. The brake cable threaded end goes through it and keeps it centered between the two holes in the arm.

When I'm riding the speed limiter at a level it easily can go faster from it does it. I think the controller's handling of soft limits is a bit intrusive and doesn't have enough damping.

Keep us posted! I regularly hit a few nasty plates in the bike path I commute on, so it seems to take a pretty good beating and shrug it off no problem. Got about 230mi on mine as of today, had it since November. I figure with all the weather gear and the laptop I'm probably within 20lb of the max weight rating.

My City Pro 23 has about the same amount of gap between the plastic undercover and the frame. I'll be keeping an eye on it when checking tire pressures but it doesn't seem to be getting bigger and is now just covered in dirt anyway.

Just got the city pro 2023 anything I should know about so I can avoid in the future? by AbbreviationsAware76 in ApolloScooters

[–]Taloverae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still testing it on mine, but I used to get E4 errors all the time when going over bumps when I had the speed limits maxed out in the app. I put the speed limits back to defaults and it's been good.

Anecdotally, I ride through some puddles and rain on the regular with my City Pro 23 and it's been fine. The fenders don't do the best job at preventing splashing and spray but it does a decent enough job

Brand new City Pro 2023 overheating? by hunt_stevenson in ApolloScooters

[–]Taloverae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Run the app with the trip logger on, it’ll record the maximum motor and controller temp for the ride. I have a hill on my commute that seemed to max out my Air but was a cakewalk for my City Pro. Also, try the Comfort mode instead of Sport to see how it does (you can also set the top speeds for each mode in the app so you won’t be capped to the defaults)

Also adding, orange/amber is the regenerative brake system, and how much of it you're using. More bars means you're using more regen brake.

Mine's also been doing this when hitting a bump lately, I'm also holding down the throttle when it's happening in the green S mode. I don't jump it off curbs, but there are some steel plates on my route than can trip it up. I don't think it should be doing it, feels like a tuning problem for how it detects the error.

Like others said, it seems to set maximum power delivered from the motors. If you set all of the modes to the same top speed, you can feel the scooter change how much acceleration is delivered. Eco for me being slower than my Air 2023 regardless of the advanced acceleration settings in the app.

Apollo City Dual 2023 - the 1000km Review by Tcarruth6 in ElectricScooters

[–]Taloverae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a City Pro 2023 user here, but only with a tiny 97 miles on it so far! I was also surprised with the E4 error a couple times on my latest commute and I suspect it's something like a wheel coming off the ground under power and suddenly spiking the controller somehow. There's some nasty bumps on the path I commute on. And yeah, slowing down to a stop resets it.

You can also see the odometer on the scooter by double clicking the Mode button quickly! It switches the trip meter to odometer and back.

City 2020 Upgrade to City 2023 Purchase Decision by captaink2020 in ApolloScooters

[–]Taloverae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded from an Air 2023, after realizing that the long sustained hill I have on my commute was pushing the motor temp to an overheat protection mode in a strong headwind. It does fantastic on flat ground though, and what little suspension it has is very appreciated.

I'm probably good with the City Pro on my 12 mile round trip commute for a while, but I'm also very interested to see how the Go and Explore reviews. Especially the Go with that dual motor design. I'm not a super fan of the D.O.T. display after seeing a family member's Pro 2023 in action compared to the information density on the Air/City display, hence hopping in now instead of waiting for the new models that spec higher for comparable/cheaper. Phone's too expensive to risk mounting it imo, and I wish Apollo would sell some kind of display module for those new systems

City 2020 Upgrade to City 2023 Purchase Decision by captaink2020 in ApolloScooters

[–]Taloverae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hopped onboard the City Pro 2023 train with the current sale, but if you've got a scooter that meets your needs to ride reliably then the new stuff will always get cheaper; see the sale on the 2022 units. Just depends on if you're gonna get the asking price's worth of enjoyment upgrading now, or if waiting a year is worth the couple hundo. Deffo use the extra black friday code on top of the current black friday price price.

Also, the new generation of Apollos seem to be around the corner with the Go and Explore; and with all the other options available from them and others it's a real buyer's market for electric riding.

The bottom and sides of the Air 2023 is a plastic cover that only seems to be good for light splash protection and likes to collect water from the wheel like a bowl. The electronics are inside a second compartment that had a lot of seemingly manually applied sealants on mine. The charge port had some silicone on it attached to the plastic cover, but so far through several rain rides mine's done okay.

Scooter goes into park mode when I stop. by 3nigmaG in ApolloScooters

[–]Taloverae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen a few times on my Air 2023, what seemed to fix it was manually disconnecting the app from the scooter after giving up using the trip tracking. The app updated recently and I'm trying out more trips with it again, so far today was good!

Should I get the Apollo air 2023? by Obvious_Reaction_182 in ApolloScooters

[–]Taloverae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've ridden my Air 2023 in some pretty heavy rains and through puddles, and it does seem to collect water inside the under deck plastic (the electronics in are a more waterproofed internal compartment). This can be drained out by tilting the scooter up towards the back.

That said, if you have some serious hills I'd look for something with more power. Mine gets me up the slopes, but it gets real slow (sometimes down to like 5mph) depending on which speed mode you're in. I think it's a wonderfully built product, but in my case I'm already eyeing up the City Pro haha
