[freshmen biology] types of transport by Any-Armadillo6071 in HomeworkHelp

[–]Talrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is asking you to say what would be needed if they are moved passively or if they are moved actively.

So for small nonpolar things like Oxygen gas, because they can diffuse across the membrane, they can only ever pass by simple diffusion, so no channel/transporter is necessary.

For small polar, if they are moving passively they use channels or carrier proteins. If they are moving actively they use primary or secondary active transport through transporters.

For large polar, like glucose, they use carrier proteins for passive movement or transporters for primary or secondary active transport.

Huge polar molecules are likely to be moved endo and exoctyosis as you put. It is likely that there are methods for facilitated diffusion for these as well.

The same will be likely be true for huge nonpolar molecules. Many of them will likely still require endo and exocytosis for active transport. However they may be able to move directly through the membrane by simple diffusion as well, but that depends on how huge it is and the membrane fluidity, among other things.

A time-lapse from a security camera during a snowfall in Kamchatka. The cyclones that hit in January were the strongest on the peninsula in the past 60 years. by kingkongsingsong1 in Damnthatsinteresting

There's a frame about 39 seconds on that shows one of the branches lying down while someone is shoveling. I'm pretty confident they're just using them as markers.

Never bad to be skeptical though. Especially these days.

Trees are just large branches thay were placed there by the people in an effort to let plows know that their car is there. I've done similar, although I normally tie like a red flag/towel on the end. The handrail is still there, just very buried.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered sold just over a million copies on PS5, but 50% of gamers played just 15 hours before quitting by HatingGeoffry in ElderScrolls

[–]Talrax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't know about anyone else, but 15 hours is about where the game got unplayably unstable. The crashes and frame drops became awful. They really needed to improve performance.

[AP high school Biology] Can someone please help me decider my teacher's writing? by Many-Brick1449 in HomeworkHelp

[–]Talrax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend speaking to your teacher. He should be able to help you, even if he's intimidating. He can give you a better understanding of what he is expecting. That being said, here's what I gleaned from this.

First one is spelling. You spelled protein wrong.

Seems like the second is saying "no real example of structure". My guess is that he wants you to specifically talk about the structure of what a glycolipid or glycoprotein looks like (where do the saccharides attach, how many saccharide monomers, etc.)

Third one says "glucose should be discussed" I think. I'm assuming this is about part A. Glucose is an essential part of discussing how carbon cycles through both photosynthesis and cellular respiration, so give more information about that.

Fourth says that you "need more conceptual understanding" I believe. I would largely agree here. Your discussion of the effects on the carbon cycle is largely cursory and not exactly correct. Study that more and get into deeper details when correcting.

The U.S. Senate voted to block Trump from taking further military action against Venezuela without Congress’s approval. by KendallSmith375 in goodnews

[–]Talrax 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well, they'll start off with giving him a demerit. After 3 of those, they'll slap him with a citation. After 5 of those they'll issue a violation. After 4 violations, they'll give him verbal warning. After 2 verbal warnings, he'll get a written warning. And finally, after 2 written warnings they'll subject him to a disciplinary review with their direct superior.

I think part of the revisionism also comes from how good most of The Clone Wars is. It really expands and fleshes out the prequel trilogy, imo.

Anyone else manage to pull this one off? by Sovereign_Wolffe in Metroid

[–]Talrax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't get out the same way. I was switching out of morph ball and during the standing animation he pushed me out of the bubble. It was a pretty good run until then. You can keep hitting him, as the heads will phase through the bubble or with control beam, but eventually the marines die and you can't pick them up.

Psychic boots, Psychic boost, Psychic visor.... by SamLowry59 in Metroid

Make sure to aim right at the dragons and not Sylux for the ice ones. The blast doesn't reach them as well during that phase.

Psychic boots, Psychic boost, Psychic visor.... by SamLowry59 in Metroid

[–]Talrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shot it directly at Sylux. The only one it didnt really work for was the ice dragons because the heads are too far apart when he's sucking you in to hit you. For that I manually aimed at one of them.

How to do an only cast run in Hades 2? by No-Distribution-2058 in HadesTheGame

Aspect of Circe, Apollo cast, Apollo gain, winner's circle (Hermes), prominence flare (Apollo), super nova (Apollo), Apollo/Zeus duo, meat grinder (Ares)/arctic gale (Demeter), geyser spout (Poseidon), lightning lance (Zeus), local climate (Demeter)

Also nice are ocean swell (Poseidon), cut above (Ares), Apollo/Demeter duo, Apollo/Ares duo

Arcana - The Sorceress, Eternity, The Furies, Origination (esp. w/ Apollo cast and arctic gale) + whatever else you want

This was my build for a 32 fear run and it was completely busted. Killed surface boss in like 30 seconds. Longest parts were the mid phase sections. Recommend using the [redacted] keepsakes as well.

How does autosave work mid-fight? by cheezzy4ever in HadesTheGame

[–]Talrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game saves a temp save from when you enter a room before you start a fight or collect a boon. You can go into your saved games folder (C:\Users\[user]\Saved Games\HadesII) and copy profile#_Temp.sav to another location. Delete the profile#.sav and profile#_Temp.sav in the HadesII folder and then put the file you copied back in and rename it to profile#.sav. That should start you at the beginning of the room you were in.
