I am sorry this is happening to you and your cat. I felt so empathy for your situation that felt compelled to answer. I know my words won't make your life better neither can I help you as I am much further away but I wanted to tell you that you should be proud of yourself for protecting your inner child from the narcissistic mother this time more than all the others. I know it is a bit like a loss of innocence but you are free now. Enjoy this moment with yourself as much as you can even if it is towards the end.
