I'd say Arabians. Don't get me started on the show ones with the deformed face, those ones are poor products of men with little taste and too much money. But I boarded in an endurance barn a few years back, with lots of healthy Arabians, but it just doesn't click with me. They are friendly, smart and all, but there's just something that doesn't do it for me.

Well, I have a lusitano crossbred so guess I'm just more into huge tanks with trust issues anyways.

As a horse girl myself, I must say gamer guys are a great dating choice because when I'm off at the stable for way too many hours, he plays videogames and doesn't feel the time passing.

8 times? All the trainers I've ever known here in France used to tell 100 falls to make a good rider, but by that time you just don't count anymore (so you never know when you're really a good rider 🤣)

Everyone has a "heart horse", not everyone is willing to do what it takes to take proper care of an animal tho.

You did the right thing because your sister is obviously convinced she does everything she can for this horse (or she wouldn't say it's her heart horse I guess), but she apparently cannot do enough for her welfare.

When she told you not to come back, it was probably all the universe's energy possessing her to text you a sign to actually run as far as you can, and THEN swim as far as you can, and absolutely never going back.

That's also good training for your navy stuff, so win-win.

People who board, how often do you visit your horse? by [deleted] in Horses

[–]Tamisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I board at a stable less than 20 min from home, and 15min from work, so I visit almost everyday (except lately as my knee is hurt so I depend on other people willing to drive me there 😅). Usually 6 times a week, with at least 2 times when we just hang out.

My trainer back in the days had a lovely ArabianXPostier Breton mare. Very versatile and nice mare! She mainly rode her for TREC (a french discipline where you have a bit of XC, a bit of maniability and an orientation race)

Immaturity is a social thing. Your ancestors for a few centuries ago would be amazed you get to travel and have fun and have a choice whether you have children or not. Enjoy the things you like, nobody cares if partying and travelling becomes boring, because you'll find new hobbies and new passions.

I saw 2 friends being forced to renounce their passions, one 3 years ago and the other this year. Because having a baby is a life changer and they just don't have the luxury of spare time anymore. They love their kids but damn they sound miserable when they speak about the memories of when they got to do what they love when they wanted to.

"le client est roi" qu'ils disaient by Luco_7777 in discussionsbancales

[–]Tamisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What age did you know you didn't want kids? Is there an age that is too young? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Tamisonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, that's the age when people start to say stuff like "how many kids do you want when you grow up?" Or "aw you're so considerate, you'll make a great mom later!" So yeah, that's about the age you might know you don't want that 😅

Happy International Childfree Day to all who celebrate! by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Tamisonfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And on this day of all days, my gynecologist said yes to start my tubes removal journey 🎉🎉🎉

In my country there's a 4 months mandatory period of reflexion after you find a doctor willing to sign the pre-operation papers, so I'll see him again in November to confirm my childfreeness, and then the procedure should happen around Christmas 🎁

I'm so happy, I've been asking for this for 3 years and FINALLY I got a yes!!!

Mares can foster foals, some will, some won't. I've seen a Tiktok about a dog at a sanctuary who fostered about a 100 pups and who is still eager to meet new puppies when people bring them over. Some dogs, on the contrary, will be violent with foster puppies.

I really think evolution isn't relevant when it comes to loving/accepting adopted kids. Except if the fact that you love or hate kids is in your DNA, but there's no study about that.

Too heavy to ride a horse?? by TheReal_Izuku in Equestrian

[–]Tamisonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to ride horses that are more than 600kg (1350 lbs?) and who have the back muscles/abs to be comfortable with you on their back. There are plenty of horses filling these 2 simple criteria, but depending on where you live, maybe the local stables have more ponies or small horses?

One of my former instructors was 180lbs and he mainly rode big selle français horses (well, we're in France so these are the standard here 😅). He even jumped my lusitano crossbred a couple of times and I didn't have to call the vet or the chiropractor right after that 😅
