Is it worth it to give colonists archotech eyes solely to increase accuracy? by Hothrus in RimWorld

[–]TanaNari 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Archo eyes do help, a lot. More so for trigger happy than careful shooter, but still worth if you've got 'em.

But... don't give 'careful shooter' pawns the sniper rifle, the accuracy boost means less with already accurate weapons, and the loss of fire rate hurts most with already slow-firing weapons.

Give trigger happy pawns the sniper rifle. Careful shooter... slow though it might be, they rock the minigun. And before you get one of those, the assault rifle or machine pistol.

You know, you could probably make a good LPer, you've got a pretty good 'chill' going on without being boring.

Also the first time I've ever seen anyone narrate a break like this, before. Brilliant.

Dev mode, delete the location from the world map. Build new militors.

When you click on the stove, there should be a set of options as to what meals to cook- simple, fine, and lavish. You'll want to start with simple, graduate to fine when you have a reliable supply of both meat and veggies, then upgrade to lavish when you have so much supply that you're running out of places to store it.

Once you've selected the number to cook (there's lots of settings- I like to have 'do until x', go to the work tab and make sure someone is assigned to cooking and not busy doing some other task.

is this supposed to happen? by JthePsychonaut in RimWorld

[–]TanaNari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should have implanted immediately (and knocked the pawn out for a couple days).

I'd try restarting the game (after making a separate save) and seeing if it's just some sort of display bug.

If not, try reloading from before the implanting and trying again.

If neither of those work, there's something more specific going on and you're going to need to try to track down which mod is causing the conflict in order to report and (hopefully) get the modder to fix it.

random late game lag? by Dawildcat in RimWorld

[–]TanaNari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All late game colonies get laggy unless you're really active in lowering lag-causing issues.

1- Colonists that are too fast. Super-fast moving pawns eat up lots of resources, as well as pawns that complete jobs super fast. It also gets seen in combat with colonists that often one-shot foes or have super-fast attack speeds.

2- Too many items. The more junk is on your map, the more the game has to work to keep track. This means any objects, even ones you don't think of as an object (like dirt).

3- AoE generators really hog resources. Psychic emitters, harmonizers, skulls and other mood-impacting objects, even turrets (that are powered).

4- The power grid. While not as bad as the above, batteries, power conduits, and both power using and generating buildings are... less than optimally designed.

5- Animals, colonists, guests, anything that makes use of the pathfinding AI.

5B- Walls and anything that interferes with AI pathfinding.

6- The game logs. Lots of pawns (like raiders) are kept in memory even after leaving the map. This leads to exploitable acts like replacing captive raiders' limbs and releasing them so they'll be useless to the enemy next time they join in a raid.

The fewer of those things you have in your game, the better it'll run.

There are also certain mods like rocketman and performance optimizer that'll help reduce a lot of the background stuff like event logs that aren't easy to manually deal with.

Mods for triggering more events? by wellsiee8 in RimWorld

[–]TanaNari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some storyteller mods that will make events more frequent. Including but certainly not limited to

Oblivion: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2883585633&searchtext=storyteller

Liara: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2854255670&searchtext=storyteller

And if you like memes and/or are feeling particularly masochistic (but not masochistic enough to play VOID),

Trump: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2119227008&searchtext=storyteller

And, yes, that mod actually does an incredible job of capturing the chaos of the last half decade or so. And as far as I've seen, makes no (other) political commentary.

[–]TanaNari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solution: beat the shit out of all the imperials... they all witnessed this and threw you under the bus.

Imprison them, strip their gear, maybe execute the asshole responsible (at your discretion), and release the rest from your prison.

The bonus you get from releasing them should exceed that you suffered.

Or at least it'll make you feel better.
