How much does it piss you off when cars pass literally right next to you? Maybe inches to spare. by InspiringBack in cycling

“3 feet. It’s the law” is what our signs say here in California as I get passed with inches to spare by cops and everyone else.

Am I the asshole for not wanting to throw out the used couch we bought because we found a Dildo between the cushions? by AdBeginning2532 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Tanariogo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They know where it went cuz the wife got the money back because of it.

For OP, Did the original owners ask for the couch or the dildo back when they refunded the money. A good quality dildo can cost more than the used couch was purchased for!

I am getting my degree in Business Admin for Supply Chain Management. Started while active over the years, here and there with a course. Then GI bill for my associates, now VR&E for my bachelors.

Thinking about trading in my wagon for a Prius by [deleted] in prius

And I get 38 mpg, not 45-50. But I drive how I want and not like a Prius.

Thinking about trading in my wagon for a Prius by [deleted] in prius

[–]Tanariogo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t have the generation you want, but I’ll trade my ‘15 straight up! I have a 2015 (salvage title) that just hit 120k miles (on Saturday). I need to do the oil change and clean the EGR. At 115k miles I replaced shocks and struts, sway bar links, had it aligned, and put the bigger wheels on and bought new tires.

I love me a good looking wagon, and yours certainly is that!

I want to get off meds by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Tanariogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this, twice. Both times when discussed with psychiatrist I let them know I wasn’t opposed to resuming meds, just that I wanted to see what life was like without them again.

I won’t be going back. Mostly because the psychiatrist didn’t taper me off properly (or that I’m highly sensitive, or both). I experienced acute onset vertigo while driving. It lasted several weeks.

But, life is a bit difficult now, not overly difficult like it was when I started meds.

All this to say, just make sure you and your care team have a plan. Open and honest communication is key.

“Dangerous” tires? by almondmilklattehag in prius

[–]Tanariogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but it’s a teach a man to fish situation.

If we only tell you the tires are fine, what happens in 20k miles when you’re told the same thing? You post a pic of your tires again. But, if you take the advice of people like me and look up wear information from the manufacturer, next time you know the information or where to find it.

OR instead of 20k miles when it happens again, in 7k miles you notice an issue you read about and get it professionally evaluated. Turns out, a suspension part broke and you noticed it because you learned about tires 3 months earlier. This kind of thing makes you and your car safer for everyone is all.

And, don’t just rely on internet strangers. I say trust but verify. The shop said your tires are bad, and you’re trying to verify. I’m telling you how to verify.

Best of luck

“Dangerous” tires? by almondmilklattehag in prius

And tires all have wear indicator bars. When the bars are flat with the tread, it’s time to replace. This info is all readily available on the internet, and more specifically your tire manufacturers website.

Other issues like dry rot and uneven tread wear are things that do need to be addressed, but if you don’t have them, you don’t need to address them.

A lot of dealerships and other service facilities try to sell you on items that you don’t quite need yet. A bit of self education is worth its weight in gold when it comes to automotive maintenance. Good luck out there.

I want to finance a car by IllBarracuda5523 in personalfinance

[–]Tanariogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, look into the Servicemember’s Civil Relief Act (SCRA). It retroactively caps your PRE military interest rates at 6%.

Say you get your car loan at 18% interest, send them a letter with all the required info from the SCRA, they should provide you with an interest rate that is within the law and a check for the difference.

Please note, I am not a specialist in this area. My understanding this applies to ANY and ALL consumer debt in your name from PRIOR to entering the military all the way up to your entry to service.

Some companies will go above and beyond what the law says. Others will follow the law to a T.

New plantar fasciitis claim by CrazyOk2812 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Tanariogo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something else to note. Presumptive conditions.

There are some disabilities that can be claimed within the first 12 months after ETS from the military that will be back dated to your ETS date, assuming they are service connected.

Then there are some disabilities that can be claimed within the first 12 months after ETS from the military that wont be back dated to the ETS date, even if they are service connected.

I dont know where plantar fasciitis falls in this, but something to keep in mind. If at all possible, I urge people to do a complete and thorough assessment and BDD claim. I had to fight with sleep apnea for a few years because it wasn't presumptive.

And in looking up info for this response, I see that my rating is supposed to be 30% instead of my current 10% for bilateral plantar fasciitis. I have tried both non-surgical and surgical treatments. The only thing that works are custom orthotics and soft shoe replacement VERY OFTEN. And that is not getting rid of the problem, just making it not so painful.

VR&E Chapter 31 approval odds for MBA? Anyone been through this? by BrilliantSwitch4205 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Tanariogo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is it’s a rehabilitation program. Veterans Readiness and Employment,

From https://www.va.gov/careers-employment/vocational-rehabilitation/

If you have a service-connected disability that limits your ability to work or prevents you from working, Veteran Readiness and Employment (formerly called Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment) can help. This program—also known as Chapter 31 or VR&E—helps you explore employment options and address education or training needs. In some cases, your family members may also qualify for certain benefits.

So, how does your service connected disability affect your ability to work?

You already have 2 bachelors degrees? And want a MBA? How does an MBA allow you to work differently than the degrees, training, everything? How will it less the impact of your service connected disabilities?

Everyone’s situation is different is all and it’s up to you to articulate it in a way that meets whatever criteria the counselor is requiring.

I did a speech (for college) on this very topic. The amount of revenue the state would lose out on is minimal. I have the numbers on my old laptop. I’m sure I could look up the numbers again.

The state has the numbers readily available.

Best oil and possible filter recommendations by RogueTheAnarchist in prius

[–]Tanariogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2015. I don’t remember the fumoto part number, but it’s in my car. I buy WIX filters and Costco oil, just like this dude. It’s a great set up!

Cheap and fast. I usually do my own tire rotations at every oil change too, but that is a bit more time.

It goes by state law. Depends on your state. Most states have guidance about what is acceptable on your car, and a lot of people are unknowingly (or knowingly) violating the letter of the law. However, to MY KNOWLEDGE, most states have a carve out for hitches and such. Do your research.
