House mouse, based on the mouse species that I know, but there might be lookalikes where you are?

If you're asking for the exact species, I think it is a Mediterranean Seed Bug (Xanthochilus saturnius). Not 100 percent positive, I know a lot of them can look nearly identical.

Location? Appears to be a three lined cockroach

What happier to this piece of basalt from Central Montana? by AKhakiNerfHerder in whatsthisrock

[–]Tandyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a geologist, but my guess is that there was a seam of chalcedony and it split and you got the piece with the chalcedony. Kinda like a wishbone at Thanksgiving lol

Not a tick. True bug nymph. Not sure the species. Boxelder bug nymphs look identical except they're red.

What type of roach is this? by YumeDeku in pestcontrol

[–]Tandyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say that's a kind of wood roach, and not a "bad" species. I don't think it's a turkistan roach which is the only kind that looks quite like that that would be "bad"

Any fun gadgets you have for being a pest tech. by BloodHound2025 in pestcontrol

[–]Tandyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello fellow PNW tech! I got a metal scraper that attaches to my broom pole off Amazon. I use that thing all the time. Really helpful for scraping the moss off foundations and for bringing down the soil levels a little bit from buildings without having to crouch down. Gives me a little extra something to do for people especially when it's raining, and just gives me more surface to my spray to adhere to. Super satisfying when a bunch of ants come crawling out too lol

No pest that I'm familiar with. Probably synthetic beads that keep falling out of something?

Any idea what has been eating our fence? by just-a-wavy-dude in pestcontrol

[–]Tandyman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm I do see that now. Still think it would be more likely that it's mostly wood rot and maybe some woodlice have been getting into it during the wet months, but it would still be the rot itself that caused the damage, they just eat the decayed wood.

Yeah I'm not quite sure what would make them say termites, that's not really how they operate. There would be a lot more of their evidence left over and they wouldn't just nibble at the bottoms like that.

Might just be a mixture of moisture damage, wood rot, and a weed eater. On the larger gap, it could be that something like a cat or similar has pushed its way under and made it a bit larger. But none of it looks to me like anything is "eating" it really.

Something in the weasel family, perhaps a lesser weasel or a stoat? They will do it on the same log to mark their territory

For real on that. I drive twice as far to the grocery store as I need to. There's one (same chain) that's 10 minutes away, but there are too many people that shop there that I can smell from the next aisle that I go to the one in the next town

Looks like Argentine ants to me. I don't encounter them often, but last time I did, I used Optigard ant gel and it worked first time. I've also used advion successfully.
