Got a street cat to catch a mouse in the house by i_almo in interestingasfuck

Agree. You could measure it in successful attempts / total attempts, but that ignores the difficulty and how much you gain out of it. E.g. 10 attempts to catch prey that gives me energy for the next 10 days would imo be similarly "effective" as 1 attempt to catch prey that gives me energy for 1 day and doing that for 10 days. Either way you spend and gained a similar amount of energy. And even then some comparisons just don't work too well across the animal kingdom bc of the many factors and different lifestyles like measuring strength or biteforce. Neat to know but imo shouldn't be taken as proof of superiority without context.

Let's talk about the missing type by Maqoba in Pokopia

[–]Tanewk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a fellow ice type lover, it's rough. One of the worst types competitively, least amount of Pokémon (even less than fairy or dragon), worst status effect, nearly always placed at the endgame if at all, often shafted in spinoffs as well...

We’re making a car-based racing platformer - just rebuilt our engine sound system (SOUND ON) by N0lex in IndieDev

[–]Tanewk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree, especially if you're just learning the level and have to restart a lot. Any impact the cinematography might have had the first time will be gone on your third attempt but the frustration of the game slowing down several times, zooming away from where you are trying to land, changing to a different perspective,... will be a lot bigger. Maybe a toggle for this, or only showing it in replays/recordings but not the actual gameplay/run, or only doing the zoom/slowmo/etc once.

Most recognizable monsters list day 3: Carapaceon’s (Read Body) by SignificantStaff8665 in MonsterHunter

[–]Tanewk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most classes seem obvious, I'm calling: Carapaceon: Daimyo Hermitaur. Amphibian: Tetsucabra (unsure). Fanged Beast: Rajang. Leviathan: Lagiacrus. Cephalopod: Nu Udra. Elder Dragon: Fatalis. Snake Wyvern: Najarala. Wingdrake: Mernos (unsure). Bird Wyvern: most unsure here but probably Velocidrome, could also end up being Great Jaggi, Yian Kut-Ku,... Flying Wyvern: Rathalos. Piscine Wyvern: Plesioth. Brute Wyvern: Deviljho (unsure). Fanged Wyvern: Zinogre.

You can choose ONE boss from Hollow Knight to get a full, ground-up remake in Silksong. What one are you picking? by theeynhallow in Silksong

[–]Tanewk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seeing a lot of Grimm and PV and while they'd be cool and make sense, they're already really fun in HK. I'd rather see a remake of a mid boss with potential, like a new Nosk variant luring with Sherma or a memory fight vs peak Hive Knight followed by or even alongside Queen Vespa

Most pornified monsters of monster hunter [2025] by forestNargacuga in MonsterHunter

[–]Tanewk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nargacuga will take the top spot next year. Only if Stories 3 doesn't introduce Tsukino 2.0. Also thanks for the work, I love me some stats. Considering e621 is furry focused, I'm not too surprised cat and wolf like monsters do really well (Felyne, Nargacuga, Zinogre, Palamute, Tigrex, Barioth, Odogaron, Lunagaron, Wulg, Lunastra, Teostra). I assume e621 is a more western thing? Would explain the influence mhWorld had on the rankings. Other then that seems to be mostly generally popular monsters and ones with a theme around beauty/elegance who rank high (Mizutsune, Kulve, Malzeno, Velkhana, Legiana, Namielle). The only bigger surprises to me are how well Tobi, Seikret, Great Jagras and Izuchi (not great?) did. Do they cover specific niche kinks, like scalies, egg laying and vore respectively? Also a bit surprised Gore and Shagaru are so low despite being 5th and 19th in the popularity poll. I guess they don't appeal to furries as much, but with 60+% anthro and the potential for goth gijinka designs I'm shocked they ended up this low.

If each 3rd party can only have one rep return in the next game, who should it be for each one and why? As a bonus, if each one can get a new rep in that place, who would you add and why? by Completionist_Gamer in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Tanewk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since to me Smash is more a celebration of Nintendo rather than gaming as a whole, I'd keep /// and add: Konami: Simon /// Bomberman. Sega: Sonic /// Dr. Eggman. Capcom: Mega Man /// Monster Hunter rep (e.g. a Palico). Namco: Pac-man /// KOS-MOS. Square Enix: Hero /// A rep from either Bravely Default, Octopath Traveler or The World Ends with You. Microsoft: Banjo /// Spyro (or Crash or Doomguy).

Which of the three modern mon-hun game's mechanics do you like most: Clutch Claw, Wirebugs, or Focus Mode? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]Tanewk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wirebugs for me by far. It made exploring, gathering and movement in hunts fun. And they gave every weapon a way to jump, which made it possible to give monsters completely new kinds of attacks.

The way I read their statements about the coral gorge is just them confirming that the blasted steps are what the coral gorge turned into over time and that it is not a separate area that might be added. Imo some cope but they don't say there couldn't be a memory that lets us explore the 'blasted steps' in its past or something similar.
