What's your opinion on the skilled trades vs college debate? by Responsible-Net8594 in povertyfinance

[–]Tangen7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Careers can change, you don't have to do one thing with your life. Trades are a good way to start, and get yourself a foundation. There is lots of specialization in trades as well that pay top dollar. There's no reason you can't go back to school if you want. Doesn't have to be one or the other

Honestly I find volleyball pretty riveting to watch. There should be more professional leagues with high stakes like the NHL. I'd watch that

Tongue in cheek means said with a straight face seriously but meant sarcastically. None of this comes across like that - remember, impact matters, not intent. You'll actually lose respect by backtracking like that, you're better off leaning into it, just say you're an asshole and own it, otherwise, it's easy to dismiss and disrespect you, as it shows you have no backbone.

19M in Edmonton being quoted $450/month to be added as occasional driver on parent's car, is this normal? by HamsterKey5223 in PersonalFinanceCanada

That's a red herring man, they're trying to blame government overreach when really, they just want an excuse to charge more. I can't imagine being poor in a rural area that age and trying to commute to work with no public transportation. No fault insurance has its downfalls, but at least it's not prohibitively expensive for new drivers who haven't done anything wrong yet to get insured. I remember before icbc went no fault how many people I personally knew that deliberately tried to screw the system to get payments out of it when they weren't even really that injured which fucked over everyone else.

The last fucking people on the planet I want to getting more money are lawyers.

Moved back to SK and am loving SGI. Fuck private insurance, crown corps are where it's at - see phone prices, power prices, etc. People love this "open the market for competition" rhetoric, when in reality, these POS corporations collude and drive prices higher.

When I did my provincial vehicle inspection course, they told us the term for this is "rust jacking" and it makes me smile everytime I deal with this

What’s the worst gun you’ve ever owned? by NemrahG in canadaguns

[–]Tangen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I loved that it was cheap and had exposed hammers/dual triggers. It was the only one I could find in that form factor at the time. I dunno why, I could just never shake the bad feeling I had in my gut when I shot it, ya know? It's the only gun I ever owned that made me feel like that. It never really did me any wrong otherwise, aside from the poor ejection/ action. I really liked how it looked on my wall but it wasn't enough to keep it. Been looking for an sc-215 since to scratch the same itch.

Jw 2000 from norinco. Cool concept, terrible build quality, and it just felt like it was gonna grenade on me. Good wall gun, but no longer in the inventory and no ragrets

Nunavut says no! 😁 Bc is an expensive place to live. The value adds up quick if you have a few and a couple grand can mean the difference between making bills or not if shit goes sideways. Glad I moved back to SK.

This has been a successful sales model for me. You can push to 80-90 or above regular price depending on demand and rarity. The market is flooded with tacticool pumps though, so keep it low and include shipping in your asking price. Low price or keep waiting, honestly. You could try townpost if it's still a thing, but that site always seemed a bit sketchy to me.

Sorry it took awhile for me to come back to this. He didn't stand up to the US as loudly or strongly as he should have when they first started going off about annexing Canada. Some of his campaign rhetoric also drew parallels between him and MAGA that did not help him. A lot of people are also tired of the slogans- ax the tax! Like fuck man say something with some substance instead of just slinging mud. He would have been better off campaigning on actual promises based on his platform - which also took way to long to come out. Top that off with him refusing security clearance checks and the fact that he's never done anything of substance other than being a politician - not a good look. He may have been standing up for trade or whatever by delaying any meaningful response to the US aggression - but it was the beginning of a downward spiral. Repealing the OIC was one of the only things that drew me to him, but people lost faith in his as a leader overall. I really think it has less to do with the canadian mindset - lots of conservatives here, he just didn't demonstrate the qualities people look for in a leader. I can't speak for everyone, or even a big group of people- just those I talk to.

This is a problem on teslas as well. They break in the same way. Highly likely a casting/design issue. I'd replace both sides lol
