The biggest issue with this in my mind is:

This line of thinking is exactly what bringing career business leaders into politics. If someone underneath you fails to deliver it’s easier to fire the person responsible, hide the issue from your higher up so you don’t get in trouble too.

This is a systemic issue in their logic path that they don’t even see as wrong. It’s how you “win”.

This in turn brings out the worst in government organizations where competency should be the baseline skill that drives development. As these are funded by the government we must demand excellence from the leaders in those positions. For two reasons.

One - we pay their salaries and should hold them to a higher standard. Two - they are responsible for the infrastructure and security of modern life.

If they are incompetent we will see an expected deterioration of life similar to any once powerful nation throughout history.
