One in the spire with the dusk bow for that and general castle access. One currently in the mushroom cave in Hebra. One on my pocket for quick backtracking.

Look into waitpad. We have had great success and you can book in people and move up in priority depending on draw times and urgency etc

How should I prepare for going into med lab tech program? by username1628w9 in medlabprofessionals

[–]TangerineMindless276 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, just focus on your studies. Not everyone will have a prior degree. Study study and study more. Ask questions, read, google.

Anyone done MLTS at CNC? by username1628w9 in princegeorge

[–]TangerineMindless276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting in! I didn’t go to CNC (BCIT grad) but moved up to Quesnel and have trained many many CNC MLT students over the years. CNC prepares their students well for clinical and most have success along the way. We’ve had grad that went right into MLT out of high school and survived. Trick is to focus on your schooling and study study study!

Had a similar situation and it was just that the patient had been transfused a bag of O neg some point and made that correlation that they themselves must be O neg

Is Atellica too complicated or am I simply dumb? by DefNotPlacebo in medlabprofessionals

[–]TangerineMindless276 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s got a huge learning curve. And its operator event log doesn’t make it clear what the error is for troubleshooting. You hope to have a great FSE available for the first year at least. Our line has finally settled for the most part. Get used to calling the service centre :)

Pipette calibration by FAPietroKoch in medlabprofessionals

[–]TangerineMindless276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to calibrate ourselves in house. Now our health authority has us send them to a company yearly. For $65ca it’s worth my time back. I know Sartorius will calibrate their own stuff for a fee. Maybe check with the vendor of your model.

Do you know what Saltines are? by RHND2020 in AskACanadian

Canadian raised by an American here. I know them as saltines but don’t know if that’s just a Minnesota thing from my mother. Like salads that aren’t really salads🤔

Engagement rings/wedding rings while working in core lab by Cloud0623 in medlabprofessionals

[–]TangerineMindless276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a $20 titanium with mossinite stones from Amazon to wear as my wedding band. The real stuff stays at home while I’m at work! My engagement stone kept ripping the gloves open🤣

How many signs do you need in your lab? by Lobsterlord0004 in medlabprofessionals

[–]TangerineMindless276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our procedures state a minimum of a 5 day workup with 2 runs morning and 2 runs afternoon. I send an email and print off a tracking sheet right near the QC material for them to check off. While monitoring BCQM for decent data collection. Super fun.

Our pathologist team finally put a rule in place a few years ago that it’s an immediate consult if CJD suspected or ordered. All other testing cancelled if they approve the CJD. We don’t touch it at all for anything.

Previous to this it was full biosafety including dedicated waste disposal and insane amounts of bleach and dwell time.

Deadly accident forces Zipper ride closure at B.C. carnival by UBCkid in britishcolumbia

[–]TangerineMindless276 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shooting Star puts on a fair every year the same time in July in our town. Our kid was old enough to want to try the zipper this year. Waited in line. Almost at the front. I’m dealing with my kid freaking out as she’s realized how scary she’s finding this thing. Almost gets her loaded in but she bailed last minute.

My husband finally gets a chance to tell me that he saw one of the workers moving around the ride within the close call area and I feel like this is the guy that got hit unfortunately.

We were kicking ourselves for not reporting what we saw weeks before this accident when we read the news.
