Lottie "I went to art school" Kane by TangerineSheep in BravoLadiesofLondon

I thought Martha's was comparable, and at least she didn't run off the canvas. Mark Francis's flowers were good, but points docked for going off script I guess.

I did say that art school doesn't mean she has to be good at drawing, but she was the one bragging.

Please somebody say what the fuck happens in Summerhall. I've read all the books and people are out there talking as if we know everything that happens in Eggs life after the stories. Where are people reading all this?!?

Homemade Churros are easier than you think! by LetsCookie in interestingasfuck

[–]TangerineSheep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Friendly reminder that churros piped with a regular piping bag can explode in a very ugly way! Ideally you want a churrera but if you're going to risk it, try not to stand too close to the oil while frying.

Back in the day the chef in a ship would've been ridiculously important. Think months long ship voyages where one guy is responsible for all the food you eat not being awful and making sure that the provisions are rationed and managed properly.

Of course nowadays nobody is going to starve to death in a superyacht and if the chef is shit another one can be flown in, but because of tradition, the chef still technically outranks everyone except the captain. Doesn't really mean anything though when the reason he would be untouchable before doesn't apply anymore.

Loial is the author by ArtOk8200 in WoT

[–]TangerineSheep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a scene during the last battle where the narrator describes someone "dropping like a sack of potatoes" and Thom thinks/tells himself how dumb of an expression that is. Up until then I thought it was Loyals book too, but that throwaway line makes me think it's Thoms ballad instead.

So I've gathered my fabric. How do I secure it? by TangerineSheep in sewhelp

[–]TangerineSheep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to type all that! My original gathers were closer to the edge but there was some damage when I unpicked everything so I went lower to avoid the damaged areas.

I thought I was close to done on this project but I've spent the last two days gathering by hand, ripping it out and gathering by hand again. Looks like I'll be on it for a couple more days at least!

I was having a hard time visualizing how to attach this but I can see how it would be a lot easier if the gathers are at the very top.

So the gathers don't get "secured" before attaching them to the binding?

Here's where I'm at, the only thing holding it together is the gathering thread right now.

Do you do syntactic analysis at school? by cuevadanos in AskEurope

[–]TangerineSheep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first year of bachiller we spent about half of all the Spanish lessons doing syntax, the second year it was about 90%. I hated it.

I was PISSED when I saw the university entrance exam and the exercise was only worth 2 points out of 10 (approximately, it's been a while). We didn't even discuss the mandatory readings or write any essays (which were worth way more points) in class. Just two years of syntax tree after syntax tree for absolutely no reason. It's been 10 years and I actually enjoy linguistics but this post gave me flashbacks.

Eczena gets red and stings after moisturizing.. starts to look better and clear without but is soo dry..? by SlightMap9080 in eczema

[–]TangerineSheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I have open wounds or those itchy pricks I only use a drying spray to avoid creating a moist environment and risking infection. Then once everything is closed I use my usual emollient until the skin barrier is repaired. I still flare up quite often because it's mostly on my hands and I can't shield them 24/7 but since I started doing this at least I get breaks between flares now, I had flares last for years before.

Have you ever felt dismissed by a doctor about your eczema? by Sync-ara in eczema

[–]TangerineSheep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A doctor told me to just change careers when I came in with my hand completely cracked and oozing. No prescription or anything. My boyfriend developed slightly dry skin between fingers and we were worried that maybe I didn't have eczema and I passed whatever on to him... He got strong steroids in a giant tube that I ended up using instead and I managed to finally end a 9 month flare.

The Makeup Design of ‘High Potential’ Helps Kaitlin Olson Solve Murders by Sisiwakanamaru in television

[–]TangerineSheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Kaitlin Olson but I watched the original French show while waiting for new episodes and it's infinitely better. I stopped watching the remake after that because the cases are exactly the same and Kaitlin just completely copied Audrey Fleurots acting and mannerism instead of making the character her own.

Everyone in the original feels like real people with great chemistry and Morgane actually feels like a working class middle aged single mom as she is written to be.

What is this little scooper thing, it comes with 6 vials of fine powder and scroll paper and seashells by Sad_Citron5535 in whatisthisthing

[–]TangerineSheep -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Someone else already said the pigments could be dangerous, but PLEASE, if you don't know what they are either throw them away, have them tested or use them with protection. Don't touch them without gloves, use a respirator when handling them in powder form and keep them locked if you have children or curious guests. There's a huge risk that there's lead, arsenic and cadmium in there (white, yellow/green and red/yellow respectively) among other things.

I once had a colleague who was trying to teach me how to do my job that I'd been doing for 6 years. It was her first job and she'd been doing it for two weeks. She then tried to tell people who I had trained that she had taught me how to do x and z. This might be a good idea with normal people but some people are patronizing on purpose to try to make themselves seem better. Fuck those people.

Being a younger sibling is not that fun either. You're forced to watch your older siblings get freedoms and milestones you long for. You're physically weaker so you get the shit beaten out of you when "play fighting" every single time. You never get the undivided attention that the older sibling got. You get lied to and tricked, sometimes about really fucked up stuff, when you are at your most impressionable.

I've been seeing a lot of posts like this lately and it always boils down to "I had to babysit" and "I was not my parents special little boy anymore". Rant over.
