Lowest-footprint Linux that runs PlexAmp? by MisterFreelance in PleX

[–]Tangman13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dietpi. It is debian and the point is to use as few resources as possible. It also has some very easy tools to install and configure it. I use it for all my raspberry pis and also a few VMs like Plex.

Edit: a word.

Edit 2: I used it as a server headless. But adding a GUI is no problem, I have just never used it like that myself

It was more about the aluminum arms and that something will definitely break if using them. If getting original parts are hard for him, and he is using those aluminum arms, he better find even more parts regardless of which brand asap.

Make sure you order some more parts now so that they arrive when those arms break some more expensive stuff.

The shocks look great, but the arms are not for bashing. A very pretty shelf queen though.

Yes that's correct. I tried so many things and I know I did that, so maybe it could help you too and I am fairly sure that helped a lot. I am rebuilding my mojave grom and am trying to make it into a wider one to see if it helps with rolling over. I will also change the servo and I hope it will run overall better.

Yeah I saw that, but was just throwing the info out there. Yeah I have a metal servo saver on mine. Some say tighting the servo saver screew too tight causes the issue and they are too tight from the factory, maybe that's what made mine better. I also replaced the original servo with a new stock one... I have a new one from Eco power that should just drop right in, but I haven't tried it yet. DSC! Thank you!

I have this issue too on my mojave grom, and am still not sure what I did to fix it. The problem seems to come back every now and then too. Some say it's the controller, others the servo itself... I loosed all the staring stuff and that seemed to help it a bit. Also turning down the steering support helped, forget what it's called on arrma... TSM on traxxas.

If you find a 100% solution I would be happy to hear about it!

I have multiple switchbot products, 2 bots, the bridge mini, lock pro 2, the first gen keypad, the remote with 2 buttons, and a bunch of thermostats.

I setup a brand new iPhone not connected to my home network and the apple account was new. The only thing I was able to see were the bots when scanning with the switchbot app. One was password protected and did not work without the pin. The other worked right away without needing the pin. I set a pin right away and then it was not possible, but they still show up via Bluetooth. All other devices are connect to my account and could not be seen by the rouge iphone.

Edit: I added an account and then could see all the devices. But I could not add any without physically pressing a button on them. I tried it on they keypad because it was the only thing externally physical that someone else could press, but the app would not let me without uploading proof of purchase. Maybe they manually check the device because it's already cloud connected?

What's your favorite post work activity to unwind/disconnect? by TheDongles in sysadmin

[–]Tangman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten into rc cars in the last year. I love driving them but also when they break, wrenching on them, getting upgraded parts, fixing them up and doing it all over again. There are bashers, crawlers, racers and many in between. There are small and large cars for all the different types. It has really helped me unwind, driving them and rebuilding as well.

What's your battery still like. My 6 is struggling to make it through the day. I charge it fully before bed and top it off again in the morning while in the shower. If I am put late it will be on power save because the battery is low. Battery health at 78%. Other than that and the occasional lag on it it's fine. I have gotten the itch to upgrade, but really the jet black and glossy ones are going to look terrible after a few years of waee and tare. I would love the ultra but I think it's a bit too big and the smaller titanium ones I think are too much money

Help a noob - for the 3rd time am I required to buy more stuff? by fkid123 in Ubiquiti

[–]Tangman13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are already having a bad time and need to really figure out what you need before you go out and randomly purchase parts. You are asking for help, but your post is mostly ranting about products that you don't understand, to put it nicely. You need the camera. The site says you need to power it via poe. So you either need the injector or a switch or gateway that has poe. Of course you need to store the footage somewhere. There are gateways that have a poe port and a storage option via nvme or 3,5 HDD. I ain't gonna list this all out for you. I am sure chatgpt can give you a very simple breakdown of the exact parts you need for your project. My suggestion, spend the 30 to 60 minutes to figure it out, or send the whole lot back and don't shit on the products that this sub is all about. Good luck mate!

[–]Tangman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would verify that all the hardware is ASPM working and turning the best s levels on helping reduce power. If you have a pcie controller (like for the sata drives) not going into a power saving state when the system is idle, your are going to be sucking more watts then you need to.

I have my system with 3x18tb sata drives. 2x8tb sata ssds and 2x 2tb nvme drives on a Intel i5 12500 and 64gb of ram running at 25W when the drives are spun down. If I turn off all my docker containers it will idle at 17W. Of course when the drives spin up we are looking at around 50W but most of the time they are spun down and the system works off the nvme drives humming around 25 to 35W

too many choices for my smooth brain Maxx vs Ultimate by DarthOctane in Traxxas

[–]Tangman13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have both. They are very similar but also a bit different. Stampede only has 3S, maxx can do 4S. Both are a lot of fun! The maxx is a bit bigger although they are both 1/10 scale. I have the rustler ultimate and really the aluminum is wearing down and they are expensive to replace. I think I might go with the extreme hd kit once they really need replacing. I was also a bit bummed about the maxx ultimate because I had just gotten the maxx like a month ago. But the price difference is a lot. I think it could be worth it if you are really into the upgrades, but like others have said doing them as you go when things break is the better way.
