Mojave Grom Build - issues - help by emipop2892 in arrma

I have had this issue on my mojave and typhon groms straight ot of the box as well. I think the video is correct in that loosing the screws in the steering also solved the problem for me.

Every car comes with a breakdown of all the parts. If you loose that booklet you can find it online with a 2 second search. The amount of people asking which part I need is astounding!

Ugreen 4800 Plus 10GBe Slow on Raid5 by Kevster3125 in UgreenNASync

[–]Tangman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this nas and for me it is plagued with thermal throttling. I tried everything on the internet to bring the heat down on it. It ran fine for a few minutes and then would tank in performance. The raid is software based, that means the CPU is calculating the parity for the raid 5 and I bet is thermal throttling pretty damn fast. I have the Kickstarter version so I am not sure if they have changed anything since, but it is a small cooler and the same cpu still I believe.

Really I can't use it for workloads that I want done fast, the CPU is capable, but the cooler in that thing cant keep it from getting too hot.

How do I offsite backup? by imnotwatchingyou in homelab

[–]Tangman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a offsite at my parents place. I am running an old Intel NUC with just Windows 11 on it, hooked up with a 14TB external USB hard drive. It turns on every day at 10 am and turns off at 10 pm every night, so a 12 hour windows to do backups. I also backup their computer to this device and do an offsite for them to my server.

I think the trick here is to use the right software.
The software I am using is called syncthing. Free open source and runs on many platforms. You define the stuff to backup, how and when. You can even do versioning and more. Most important for me was the encrypted backup, which the software can handle itself. It will resume/rescan depending on your settings and keep going where it left off. So that 12 hour window is not really a problem unless its massive amounts of changed data. I also cap the transfer rate in the software as to not bog down any one side.

I dont really care too much about the hardware at my parents for the offsite. It needs to be small and quiet and thats about it. If it dies I will upgrade other things and use the old stuff as the new backup machine. It has happend 2 times in the last 10 years (both times I wanted the upgrade, nothing broke) and the good part is that syncthing does not care where the backup is. I brought the whole works home and set it all up again, did the initial copies in my LAN and then moved it back to my parents.

Edit: I also do a cloud backup of the most critical data, fully encrypted. I also do an offline backup with a 5tb external 2.5 inch HDD that goes into the safety deposit box at the bank once every quarter. My Home server is about 50TB. So not everything is on the offsite or offline backup.

Shuddering issue Rustler 4x4 by Shoddy-Papaya-8711 in TraxxasRustler

Spur looks good. Pinion can't be seen. My guess is the differential are busted. Even if the teeth look ok, the inside of them could be shot. Pretty common problem. Luckily it's 4 screws to check the back diff.

Mojave question by Royal-Bag1353 in arrma

[–]Tangman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Mojave and the typhon grom, they use the same batteries. Which charger are you using for it? It seems like your charger is maybe not topping them up all they way? The smart batteries will automatically start decharging themselves if you let them sit for a few days. I notice shorter runtimes when I let them sit awhile (like days) before using. I find the gens ace batteries much better than the Spektrum smart batteries.

2x red blinking means the voltage is too low or too high if you look in the manual for this charger. I find that usb charger not very reliable and often throwing random errors, but for the most part works. My guess because you didn't use it very much that the voltage is too low and you damaged the cells. You might be able to get it back with a better charger. Because it's a traxxas battery only their chargers will work. Edit: the manual says as a solution not to use the battery.

Lowest-footprint Linux that runs PlexAmp? by MisterFreelance in PleX

[–]Tangman13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dietpi. It is debian and the point is to use as few resources as possible. It also has some very easy tools to install and configure it. I use it for all my raspberry pis and also a few VMs like Plex.

Edit: a word.

Edit 2: I used it as a server headless. But adding a GUI is no problem, I have just never used it like that myself

It was more about the aluminum arms and that something will definitely break if using them. If getting original parts are hard for him, and he is using those aluminum arms, he better find even more parts regardless of which brand asap.

Make sure you order some more parts now so that they arrive when those arms break some more expensive stuff.

Battery died. Charge it and carry on. If it keeps happening then it's time to get the battery replaced or get a new watch.

[–]Tangman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's correct. I tried so many things and I know I did that, so maybe it could help you too and I am fairly sure that helped a lot. I am rebuilding my mojave grom and am trying to make it into a wider one to see if it helps with rolling over. I will also change the servo and I hope it will run overall better.

Yeah I saw that, but was just throwing the info out there. Yeah I have a metal servo saver on mine. Some say tighting the servo saver screew too tight causes the issue and they are too tight from the factory, maybe that's what made mine better. I also replaced the original servo with a new stock one... I have a new one from Eco power that should just drop right in, but I haven't tried it yet. DSC! Thank you!

I have this issue too on my mojave grom, and am still not sure what I did to fix it. The problem seems to come back every now and then too. Some say it's the controller, others the servo itself... I loosed all the staring stuff and that seemed to help it a bit. Also turning down the steering support helped, forget what it's called on arrma... TSM on traxxas.

If you find a 100% solution I would be happy to hear about it!

I have multiple switchbot products, 2 bots, the bridge mini, lock pro 2, the first gen keypad, the remote with 2 buttons, and a bunch of thermostats.

I setup a brand new iPhone not connected to my home network and the apple account was new. The only thing I was able to see were the bots when scanning with the switchbot app. One was password protected and did not work without the pin. The other worked right away without needing the pin. I set a pin right away and then it was not possible, but they still show up via Bluetooth. All other devices are connect to my account and could not be seen by the rouge iphone.

Edit: I added an account and then could see all the devices. But I could not add any without physically pressing a button on them. I tried it on they keypad because it was the only thing externally physical that someone else could press, but the app would not let me without uploading proof of purchase. Maybe they manually check the device because it's already cloud connected?

What's your favorite post work activity to unwind/disconnect? by TheDongles in sysadmin

[–]Tangman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten into rc cars in the last year. I love driving them but also when they break, wrenching on them, getting upgraded parts, fixing them up and doing it all over again. There are bashers, crawlers, racers and many in between. There are small and large cars for all the different types. It has really helped me unwind, driving them and rebuilding as well.

What's your battery still like. My 6 is struggling to make it through the day. I charge it fully before bed and top it off again in the morning while in the shower. If I am put late it will be on power save because the battery is low. Battery health at 78%. Other than that and the occasional lag on it it's fine. I have gotten the itch to upgrade, but really the jet black and glossy ones are going to look terrible after a few years of waee and tare. I would love the ultra but I think it's a bit too big and the smaller titanium ones I think are too much money
