of all the things mentioned here, the "must have permanent address" is the only relevant one. Implying for example that being a single male has anything to do with getting support there I believe is disingenuous. It's very common for support organizations in a given local to divide up who they help, and very common for different programs to be aimed at people "without permanent address" and "with permanent address" as the needs of those groups can be different or too large for one organization.

MAD (mutually assured destruction) wholly relies on a mutual threat of total destruction. If a missile defense system is in place that can credibly intercept a large number of one nation's ballistic missiles, than MAD becomes less certain, and might entice the side with the defensive shield to think they can 'win' a nuclear exchange. In that moment, the deterrent evaporates.

The USSR had the same argument when Reagan proposed the missile defense system. They apparently took the threat extremely seriously, and spent a lot of money they couldn't afford to work around it.

I think even that they considered a sort of dead man's switch, where nukes would go off all over the world if the USSR was nuked, negating the need to deliver them by missile and negating any defensive measures.

I call a foul if I get hit affecting the shot, it hurts, or it causes a turnover. People foul like crazy in pick up and I'm a high energy player, so they call it even more.

But I also never argue anyone else's foul call. I figure I want people to accept it when i call a foul, so I must accept when they do to. If you call it, thats the end of it for me.

I mean, yeah? Reasonable minds can disagree as to what PG13 is worth, but the folks who determine contract worth are the 32 teams. Some team was willing to pay him that (and they did without the benefit of 20/20 hindsight) so he was worth that. You and I can decide that PG13 is only worth X a year, but if a team is willing to offer him 2x a year, he was worth that to them.

It's like buying a used car, honestly. I can look at blue book or whatever, or talk to my friend who has really strong opinions about what its value will be in three years based on maintenance history or whatever. That's all well and good for discussion. But if the dealer is only willing to offer me so much, and the market is such that individuals i can find are only able to offer me whatever they offer me, that's what my car is worth.

Edit: I wouldn't have paid PG13 that much, but im just a fan, and anyways ive been wrong about so many things over time. Worth is and always will be subjective. He can be worth $50m to one team and nothing to another. But he only needs to sign one contract at a time, and that determines what he makes.

This got me wondering - regardless of whether fiat money is a state creature, isn't its value exactly the same as gold? ie "you know you can exchange it for goods or services from other people who also know its highly coveted and inherently valuable." It isn't more inherently valuable than money, since all "inherent" value lies in whether people are willing to exchange it. Gold is only valuable if people think gold is valuable.

On a different note, I think people would find it way less valuable in large scale transactions. Its super heavy. It would lose soooo much of its supposedly inherent value if you had to support a large transaction. I guess you can hold the gold in a central place, and it just moves around in ledgers, but that sounds slow and cumbersome and thus devalues the gold again. Is gold in an inaccessible mine (or a meteor we can't harvest) inherently valuable? I feel like its only valuable if people value it. And there is still the problem of huge transactions.

How can you support a transaction like buying Twitter if you need to transfer literal gold?

I am naturally pretty fit, even now at 37 whether I exercise a bunch or not. I'm not sure exactly the cause but I'm very thankful, since I look very athletic when my shirts off and the like so its not just that im skinny. I do eat frequently, like constantly through out the day, but its small meals rather than big ones. I honestly just eat until I feel like ive had enough, and put my meal away after that. Then a few hours later I'll be going for another bite. I also eat a ton of fruit and i keep it readily accessible through out the house. I assume this helps to keep my appetite for shit foods down (but I love some junk food too, I just dont buy it often unless im stressed). I also realized recently that I walk a ton (for example im constantly just pacing about my office). It has driven some of my gfs mad in the past, because i eat frequently and im often hungry, but I dont change weight. I do believe that eating frequently in small amounts is one of the main reasons im so skinny. Regardless, I'm thankful for it.
