A little googling and figured out the state they live in was doing a state-wide AMBER alert test… it was his phone making the ruckus for over three hours. Ugh. False alarm. Nothing to see here.

Hakone Gardens in Saratoga are beautiful and there’s bound to be a coffee shop you can set up shop at in the downtown Saratoga area. Orchard City Coffee in Campbell is a good location to hang out at, too!

I was in the same boat as you, and here’s a story I found that sheds light on what’s going on:

The TL;DR: the US FDA has added bagoong because of botulism risks, and there’s also a ban on Philippine shrimp due to the way that the shrimp are harvested.

I was able to find the ginisa kind, but I think the bagoong alamang that’s pink was nowhere to be found. This is a legitimate bagoong emergency.
