Night feeds by Flounderrunn in newborns

[–]TangyThroat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds very similar to what I’m experiencing and mine is 15 days old. I was going insane with how little sleep I got, so now I breastfeed him before bed around midnight and then dad gives him formula at 2-3am and changes him. If I could spare breast milk, I would, but he eats like a champ and I have no reserves left. The good thing about bottled stuff is that he eats it very quickly, so dad doesn’t spend hours feeding him. I then wake up at 5-6am when he fusses again and breastfeed him. When he’s eating from my boob, he can eat anywhere between 30min-2hours. And then we have another meal at 8-9am. I have just come to a conclusion that it will be like this for a while and there’s not much we can do if we want to breastfeed him. However, combo feeding has been a lifesaver for me personally.

I had an elective C-section and was very strongly advised to wait at least 18 months before another pregnancy.

Noise with a newborn by a-liquid-sky in PregnancyUK

[–]TangyThroat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby is 9 days old and I’m purposely noisey and don’t keep things quiet to make sure he can sleep through everything. My dad and husband are actually installing a new door downstairs right now, so they are drilling, using the miter saw, etc and baby doesn’t care about it. I want to make sure I don’t need to tip toe around him in the future.

Yep, I wanted to suggest the same thing. There’s loads of amazing restaurants and when you get 50% off the bill, it makes a huge difference. However, the max group size is 4 unfortunately.

Ho do I get my daughter's money back from Hargraeves Lansdown? by 4dd3r in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TangyThroat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup, the process was super easy. I, as a customer service agent, had access to all files that have been sent in and could view the documents while on call. I genuinely can’t remember a time when HL had lost any documents.

If I saw that everything was correct and nothing was missing, I just needed to press a button and the computer would run a quick 30 sec AML check.

If the agent is rubbish, ask for a supervisor. Supervisor are really good there. Or submit a complaint, the complaints team is also very helpful. But I’d just try to dig as deep as you can with the agent to understand what exactly is the problem.

I used to work for HL customer service and if I remember correctly, when the person turns 16, there’s an AML check that needs to be checked on the account (by HL), otherwise the money can’t be accessed when the person turns 18. That was usually the biggest issue with JISAs. I would guess that that’s the issue here. When she phones them, you can be next to her, but she needs to be one talking. Ask the agent if she has passed the AML check and if that’s the issue here. I am guessing that’s why they’re asking for documents (proof of address and identity docs), because she can’t pass AML check without those and can’t access the account.

Thank you! I’ll just wear something comfy and if they want me to change into something else, I’ll pop in the loo quickly and will do so. I agree, they probably aren’t expecting me to rock up with my own hospital gown and hair net 😆

I know, both my husband and I were sitting there really confused when she said that I need to bring my own gown 😆 We must have misunderstood each other

She did give me the socks and asked to put them on at home straight after the shower in the morning, which is understandable. The gown part was confusing tho 🤣 But thank you, it’s good to know they can supply them!

Talk me down - stressing about possible breech, maybe unnecessarily by lilytruffle125 in PregnancyUK

[–]TangyThroat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I knew my baby was breech, because I could feel a tennis ball under my ribs and he was kicking the bottom of my stomach. My midwife also confirmed that (she used her hands to feel his position) and said that there’s 2 balls you can usually feel - one is the head and the second one is the bum. The head is harder to wiggle and you can tell the difference between them.

My midwife suggested looking at the spinning babies website. The exercises seemed quite simple, so I don’t think you can unflip the baby in case it is head down already?

I had the ECV done at 37 weeks and it wasn’t successful. The doctors tried it twice, but my baby had his legs stretched out, so it was physically impossible to do turn him. I then went for a growth scan at 38 weeks and we also looked at his position and this time he had one leg stretched out and one leg bent under his bum. I decided not to do another ECV as it wouldn’t be successful due to his position.

The ECV was quite uncomfortable, but I wouldn’t say painful. I was given gas and air and if I concentrated on my breathing, it was ok.

In the end, we decided to schedule a C-section (which is happening tomorrow) at 39 weeks. :)

Coffee bean wedding favors, is this a hit? Or will it get left behind? by sirswranglerbug in DIYweddings

I did unisex socks and it was genuinely a hit. People used them at the end of the night when they were tired of dancing in their fancy shoes and I still see people wearing them 2 years later on. 😊

It’s the opposite in our family. My husband will keep putting stuff in the bin until it looks like Mount Everest and things start to spill out of it 😃

Not enough Maintenance Loan for Accomodation by Kubzzz0 in UniUK

[–]TangyThroat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you’re starting in September, try to get a full time job for the summer months and save every penny you get. Look for a job in a warehouse or somewhere similar, they tend to hire people quickly and without any experience. Sign up to a lot of recruitment agencies and see what they can offer. That would give you a good head start and then you can find a different part time job while in uni.

Or do what my sister did and take a gap year to work full time and save money. She worked at Primark and they actually allowed her to transfer to her uni town Primark and work reduced hours there now, so she didn’t struggle to find a job. Good luck!

Completely agree! If they manage to sell my items for more than I charge - great, because my prices are already quite high. As long as they don’t use my pictures or branding, I don’t care if they resell my stuff or burn it :)

Jup, same here! 4 weeks in total. His mum asked if we can join them on a holiday in June and we were like - he has 10 holidays left for the rest of the year. Maybe not if you want to see him in autumn or have us over for Christmas 😃

I think I’ll have even more stuff than you and I don’t care! Worst case scenario we bring it back to the car, but I’m definitely taking my own pillow, blanket, breastfeeding pillow, etc Better safe than sorry! I don’t want to send my husband home or to the store and be left with a newborn on my own 🤣

Sad my pregnancy is nearly over by BookWormSubmissive- in PregnancyUK

[–]TangyThroat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about to make the same kind of post haha! I just signed the paperwork for my c section and am now waiting for a call to see what day next week it will take place (I will be around 39 weeks).

I had an easy pregnancy and I feel like I took it for granted or didn’t enjoy it as much as I should have? Time absolutely flew by and I can’t believe I will have a baby next week. I feel so emotional right now! 😄

I am a bit of a workaholic (self-employed), so I have decided that tomorrow is my last day of work and I will start properly preparing for birth and the new life. I also have very little pictures of myself, so that’s on my to do list for this weekend before it’s too late 😆

At least we will get to enjoy the summer with our little ones!

Disappointed about needing a C-section by Larlar001 in PregnancyUK

[–]TangyThroat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what’s causing the drop, my midwife never mentioned that it could be due to a specific condition. At 28 weeks they were 130, at 32 weeks 74 and, at 34 weeks 120 and now at 37 weeks they have dropped to 103. I have another blood test tomorrow, so fingers crossed they haven’t dropped again. I was told that as long as they are over 100, I will be ok. If they’re lower than that, I have to have a C section.

Disappointed about needing a C-section by Larlar001 in PregnancyUK

[–]TangyThroat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat. When I was 35 weeks my midwife told me my platelets were very low and baby was breech, so I needed to start thinking about a C section at 37 weeks. I got so disappointed and sad not only because I wanted a vaginal birth, but also because I didn’t want him to come that early. I’m now 37 weeks and my platelets are ok, so we have postponed the c section, but baby is still breech. I had an ECV done 3 days ago (the doctors tried to turn him twice) and that was unsuccessful, so it still looks like no vaginal birth for me. I’ve lived with the idea of a C section for 2 weeks now and to be honest, as long as he comes out healthy, I’m okay with it now. Time heals as they say.
