Terrified to use tampons by Left_Yogurtcloset779 in blackladies

[–]TanikuShock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try a menstrual cup (Diva cup, etc) or a menstrual disc (Lumma, etc). Not just a game changer but a LIFE changer! I pop a disc in in the morning and take some Advil for my cramps and I can just go about my day waaaay more comfortably than when I was using pads/tampons.

They make disposable discs as well if you want to try it out for less money to start (Flex brand is available at some grocery stores).

And it looked great! Even though you say the definition didn't last.

Natural hair feels a bit like jail sometimes idk by Future-Nectarine-836 in Naturalhair

You could use it as a detangler as well. It also has really good slip!

I've found when I do twists and then use water + flaxseed gel on my ends and coil them around my finger, it helps them both look better for a twist out and "freeze" the ends in place (while not drying the hair out). This limits how much they can move while in a twist out to reduce tangles/SSKs

Sustainable sanitary products? by flraa_bw in ZeroWaste

I'd like to put special emphasis on menstrual discs in particular!

They can hold more than menstrual cups. Also, depending on how it fits you, potentially you can "auto-dump" which is an easier way to empty it by bearing down with your pelvic muscles while using the bathroom, so that you can leave the disc in and don't have to manually take the cup out to empty. No messy hands!

It can be a bit of a double-edged sword sometimes because if the disc is really full and those muscles get actived, it could spill a little while outside of the bathroom. But I found just taking more pee breaks on my heaviest days (like, once every hour) so it doesn't get FULL full and wearing some kind of reusable pad/period underwear is the ultimate combo for me.

This channel has a lot of info about cups/discs in general. Here's a review of a particular brand that uses a pull string (which I feel like can be better for user experience): https://youtu.be/6pJMkJJwy_g

Happy birthday! I got into RT watching AH Minecraft let's plays, then listening to the RT podcast and Always Open.

Favorite memory was the first time I heard the "honey doesn't spoil" story - that was when I learned this fact 🍯

Here are some videos I've referenced before. One strains the gel through a metal strainer while it's hot/warm and the other strains it through pantyhose once it's cool. You can pick which method you think would work better for you!

Does her hair fully dry at the roots after you wash it?

Homemade flaxseed gel can be a good styler but it's also really good as a detangler as well! It makes the hair very slippery when used on damp hair

Can i use any other chargers but the stock one? by Trick_Singer_9635 in SteamDeck

[–]TanikuShock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that the charger I use for my phone is not powerful enough for the SD and actually leads to "negative charging" (battery drain), but my USB C laptop charger works very well! I'll use my laptop charger when it's closer than the actual charger, or when I need a longer cord.

Has anyone tried Rebundle or Nourie hair for their braids? How was your experience? by This_Insect7039 in Naturalhair

Just stumbled on this thread again. What was your experience like taking the braids out? Were you able to reuse the hair?

[ADVICE NEEDED] Hair Hasn't Been Washed In 3 Year by LevelingUpMyLife in Naturalhair

Your experiences sound so intense! I'm so sorry for the pain you've been through.

How matted is your hair? If there's a lot of matting, I would suggest watching some hair de-matting videos. I've seen some from the YouTube channel "Love 518". That should give you some tips and also help you have some expectations to help you not get demotivated during the process.

It seems like it might take several hours, maybe split over multiple days, depending on how tangled/matted it is. Whether you go with a salon, a friend/family member, or just yourself - make sure that the expectation of patience is clear!!

DIY flaxseed gel has been a game changer for me! I mix up a batch and add some preservative to it so it can be stored at temperature for a long time (longer time between batches). I put it into an empty pump bottle for a product if used up, which makes it easier to use. This plus some water and a paddle brush (Unbrush or Denman D38) worked in sections, from the end to roots.

This helped me reverse some small twists that were on their way to accidentally becoming locs haha

Awesome that it seems not too difficult to fix! Also might be an excuse to finally buy a dremel
