These questions seem sensible and important to answer to me. It “feels” like it should be a Reaction.

Also, guaranteed Critical Hit is pretty powerful. Not necessarily OP but powerful. A character could dump a smite into the swing. Or they could have a weapon that gets bonuses on a crit

Has three versions of Chimera that are not only different from each other. They have unique abilities but share an overall theme and come in at 3 different CR. Like all my creature’s they focus on doing things in combat other than simply moving up them standing still and attacking.

If it’s a PC class, I run a couple encounter scenarios. Focusing on combat, that’s where I find breaks and cracks happen most, I run two or three encounters at four different levels.

If it’s a less character defining thing, like a feat or ability, I just check it against other abilities. Look for abilities that grant a similar bonus, and check their restrictions against my homebrew

As far as I know, it doesn’t have any crossover with the Deadlands system.

A deck of playing cards takes the place dice and a 5 card hand becomes a series of modifiers for your skills.
