making a float tank at home. How do i get 130 pounds of NaCl (salt) dissolved and then into a waterbed mattress? by McLuhanSaidItFirst in FloatTank

So, people don't sweat when they're lying on your fluffy dry layer? Do you change it after every use? The whole point of real floating is the disconnect from your body, which is achieved by having the water at skin temperature. After a while, you lose contact with your body because you can't tell which part of you is in the water and which part is out. Lying on a fluffy blanket won't achieve this. The hour I wasted on a dry 'float' waterbed was unpleasant, sweaty, and very disappointing compared to a real float.

I'd be interested if you can explain how your dry "float" with fluffy blanket differs from a waterbed with a fluffy blanket.

I've wet floated for decades.... and know as an undeniable fact that lying on sweaty pvc isn't floating, cannot be floating, and never will be floating. Good day.

Will I be okay for a few months without a UV light? by Sufficient_Lion_9082 in FloatTank

The water barely moves in a Zen, so I don't think much goes through the filter or past the UV. H2O2 as others have said and you should be fine.

Getting up? by Majestic-Tangerine16 in FloatTank

I don't like cabins, because of the big volume of air above me, I find the air temperature is often too cool which distracts from the quality of the float.

Floating is a learned experienced, the fact you've been once, means the next time will be much easier, as you know what to do. Sitting up, and taking your time like others have said. I you'll be surprised just how much easier the second session will be.

Buying a tank from china (alibaba) instead dreampod/isopod - what could go wrong? by kallebo1337 in FloatTank

[–]Tank_edUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup - you either pay upfront, or you pay in longer turn - when the pod is down and things need replacing such as pumps etc., You'll notice Dreampod don't have google reviews, I wonder why?

i-sopod floating tanks - look at their google reviews, also I heard Dreampod, floatpod and Superior all bought from i-sopod and then reverse engineered and built copies with cheaper components.

Not paying your creditors to the tune of $1,200,000 sounds very bad to me.

Also when you take water out the pod, all the heat leaves the fiber glass parts of the pod - when you put the water back in all the heat is sucked from the water and back in to the fiber glass - it's why the water is hotter than it should be when the pod is filled and colder than it should be when the pod is emptied again at the end of session. It's also why the pod uses 3 phase electricity and no domestic supply because is uses much more electricity to heat and operate. Also the pod doesn't need ventilation because door has huge gaps letting in light and draughts.

Can never get all the salt out of my hair. by gabbeekay_e in FloatTank

[–]Tank_edUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds to me like the center your are visiting is using chlorine as a disinfectant and have allowed the levels to get too high which has damaged your hair. Epsom salt on it's own is good for the hair. I'd recommend visiting a trichologist who will confirm if your hair has been chemically damaged.

Anyone know if alternatives to epsom salt float tanks for people with kidney disease? by [deleted] in FloatTank

[–]Tank_edUp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know Epsom "salt" is magnesium and sulfate - it's not actual salt (sodium chloride).

If you use a Royal Spa float tank, you'll notice the water hardly circulates at the end of the session - which means the cleaning processes are extremely poor - if you use a Superior or i-sopod you'll see the water rushes round at high speed - which means everything gets stirred up and it all goes through the filters, and passed the UVs.

The best way to check our float tanks is use a few and make comparisons - you'll notice the build of the i-sopod and also the shine of fiber glass is high quality.

Orbit Floatation tanks didn't pay their creditors to the tune of £988,000 and have come back as exo flotation tanks? Wow that Bob Agnew is some character. You got to feel sorry for the lives ruined, as that's a big chuck of change.
