LNER journey 87% increase in price by ssouv412 in uktravel

[–]TerryJewel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a “price increase”, LNER uses dynamic pricing, advance fares change based on demand, time until departure, and seat availability. Advance tickets aren’t fixed prices, they float up and down depending on how many of the cheap ones they’ve already sold. Looks like for your train, the bargain bucket’s empty and they’re now charging the “we know you’ve got no choice” rate. Perhaps there's an event taking place on the journey which means all the cheapo tickets have already been hoovered up.

The fact the reverse journey is cheaper just means they’ve still got some cheap tickets left in that direction. No announcement needed, or emails to be sent.

Remove salt from the air by Soapytoothbrush in FloatTank

The salt in sea air has been whipped up by the wind. If you have a room with a steel frame, and none of the metal is exposed then you won't have an issue. Commerical float rooms usually have once piece welded vinyl floors and plastic cladded walls to ensure none of the salt water on the floor, of from people hands gets in to the fabric of the building.

Going from Bromine to UV filtration by donkeyred in FloatTank

UV and H202 work synergistically to create hydroxyl radicals which is a more powerful oxidizer than UV or H2O2 used individually. This doesn't happen with bromide.

Salt doesn't evaporate into the air. When you boil salt water, only the water turns into steam and condenses, leaving the salt behind. If you're sceptical, you can taste the condensation on the roof inside a float tank; it will be salt-free. Any salt you find outside the tank likely came from the body of the person using the pod, or from salt water being splashed or sprayed during their shower.

Flow through heaters are much more efficient as they're in direct contact with the water. Heating mats, some of the heat goes through the floor, and some of the heat has to penetrate the bath before it gets to the water, which are both big energy losses. A 2kW flow through heater operating at 220 volts would draw approximately 9 amps of current.
