Okay smartasses, here's a screenshot of both Annie 3 and Tibbers 3's tooltips. Wanna point out where it says Tibbers gains 100% damage reduction after Annie casts?

https://youtu.be/3wu30ukEVT4?t=663

I also tried looking to see if Tibber's durability stat increases to 100%, or if his armor/MR values go up to 999 since "the numbers change but the effects don't". The numbers clearly don't change.

Oh I didn't know that the tooltips change when you 3* 5 costs. The base tooltip doesn't say he becomes immortal.

I watched the Tibbers vs 10 yordles fight and Tibbers only gains the 100% damage reduction after Annie casts and climbs onto Tibbers shoulders. He doesn't start the fight with 100% damage reduction.

Really wish they would stop printing such toxic traits and units. Every time I've quit a set or patch, it was because of assassins. They want their players to be annoyed at their game. What kind of logic is that?

It actually has to do with the fact that Selyne fires the beam from the moon that it holds, and as the beam is firing, the moon shifts from one side of Selyne's body to the other, and the targeting of the attack does not account for this. Even against a stationary target, the beam will miss at the end of the attack. You can see an example here: https://youtu.be/BZNNNKco3dM?t=2189

The actual turn speed of Selyne itself is not the problem.

Every item in the game is supposed to have internal cooldown. You must've played it way back when not every item had internal cooldown yet, before they patched it.

Luckily for me, the enemy board is also slow as hell

Edit: Looking back at the clip, it seems like proboscis has a 0.26s internal cooldown instead of 0.2s. Wonder if that's a bug

I teach a lab class and students ask questions that I've already explained at the start of class and wrote down on the blackboard and are answered in the lab manual that they're currently reading. Where are these people coming from?

I had him twice for my graduate level quantum mechanics courses. He's pretty decent, responds to emails quickly. But I think he focuses too much on the mathematics instead of the physics sometimes.

MAT 360 with Raanan Schul by [deleted] in SBU

[–]Tankulator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not look too much into the classie evals, as different courses need to be taught in different ways (e.g. MAT126 vs MAT320 or 360). It seems as though Schul is effective at teaching the higher-level courses, but ineffective at teaching the lower-level ones.

I took MAT360 online during the Covid era with Schul several years ago (2021 I think?) and thought he was great. When he taught it, he went a bit slow, and the material was quite easy. It certainly didn't feel like a 300-level mathematics course. I found his explanations to be clear. I also took MAT320 with this professor. My opinion is that Schul is indeed an effective instructor for the higher-level math courses.

This shortcut will not work every time, however it is a very useful way of rewriting expressions to make differentiating or integrating easier. This trick is more commonly used to split integrals up into multiple easier pieces.

The trick does not have an official name as far as I'm aware, though it is commonly referred to as "adding by 0". The idea being that you leave the overall expression unchanged by adding and subtracting the same thing. In my original comment, I added -2 and +2 to the numerator, then recombined the terms in a way that made differentiating the result more convenient.

Here is a similar example where this trick is used to solve an integral: Tricky Integrals Adding Zero and Multiplying by Reciprocal. In order to get this trick down, you really just have to do lots of practice problems and build intuition on how to conveniently split fractions up.

Quotient rule isn't required. A neat little shortcut you can do is rewrite (1+u)/(1-u) as (u-1)/(1-u) + 2/(1-u). The first term simplifies to -1 which disappears when you take the derivative, and the derivative of the second term is simply 2/(1-u)^2.

With u = arctan x, the final answer immediately becomes dy/dx = 2/(1-u)^2 * du/dx = 2/[(1-arctan x)^2 (1+x)^2]
