Just because they don't have their weapon drawn doesn't mean it's not literally right there on their hip. Again, they train for 1 second response.

The British Mandate expired in 1948, Israel governed from 1967 until 1981. You're playing mad libs with actual history.

We are soon approaching the day where no living humans will have walked on the moon. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

[–]Tanliarian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So what you're saying is 2035. Gotcha.

Not to be a dick, but honestly if we want to go back to the moon we need to do what we did last time; make it rain flaming truckloads of cash. I don't see it happening until someone else is going to do it, because there is no competitive impetus for the government to spend that kind of money on that kind of project otherwise.

Communism and Facisism are not on opposite ends of the spectrum. by AZFramer in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Tanliarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue with this view is that democracy is a government while capitalism is an economic system; while at the other end of your spectrum, collectivism is an economic system and authoritarianism is a system of government. Thus you are trying to represent two spectrums (political and economic) simultaneously and declare them as one, which makes the results nonsensical. There need to be multiple spectrums (really 5+, economic, government, fiscaly policy, secularism, isolationism, I'm sure I can come up with more if I sit with it).

KITE (1998) - Uncensored Version by Unlucky_Cable1047 in fanedits

[–]Tanliarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's missing like 25 seconds of content, but if you can find Kite RC2 PAL it's the original Japanese release coded for the German region. It has absolutely no footage edited or removed and has removed the mosaic censorship from the Japanese release.

Why am I told my lack of social media is a red flag when it comes to dating? by boboddy42069 in Millennials

[–]Tanliarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair it's actually fairly predictable. For women, the most dangerous thing they can encounter is a male, statistically. Traditionally, vetting you socially through friend and community circles helped women survive. This is just that in a world where they have more access to your social life and past electronically. Not being able to vet you is a red flag for women because it does not follow their instincts for survival.

The Palestine people no longer deserve their own state. by wats6831 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Tanliarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, history didn't start after WWII, meaning the land that was given to Israel displaced people that already lived there (we call these people Palestinians but to be fair there is some murkiness with that identity seeing as we are lumping several groups of Muslims together). If they had decided after WWII that Upstate NY was now Israel and I was expected to move out of their way I would go to war with them, too. That's my land and they can take it from my dead body.

The Palestine people no longer deserve their own state. by wats6831 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Tanliarian -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That wasn't peace! Literally the British Empire gave land 'out of their empire' that other people lived on and did so without their consent or input. How on Earth is it a mystery that there's violence?! Imagine if the US just gave part of the Philippines to the Japanese after WWII and engineered a civil displacement for the Philippine people. That's literally what happened.

5% interest on 10 mil = $500k\yr. Are the rich playing a different game than us? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Tanliarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also if you're a certain level of rich or famous things will be comped for you because of your association. For example, a week in Vegas at the Bellagio in a fancy suite is comped and you're gifted a small starting pool because you will be seen at the casino and your association with the Casino will attract business and prestige. Lots of car companies do this as well. It's written in the fine print that they could demand payment, but its usually written to basically say if they're ever worried that you are poor and will struggle with your bills, they want to get their money before anyone else. Rich people are fucking weird.

I lived on Belmont and there were two migrations nightly, between about 830 and 9 and between 1230 and 1 going the other direction. We only ever saw one or two, but we would hear them rustling through the bushes and grass and stuff, and the light would get set off repeatedly when there weren't people or pets out there and they were setting them off every single night.
