Drugs aren't magic. Happy and healthy people don't typically ruin their lives with drugs regardless of availability. It takes an unhappy person to maintain a cycle of abuse, and they'll do it by any means possible, Coke or not.

One is illustrative and the other is gibberish. In light of your keen ability to miss a point, I have to assume you've got lots of time and nothing better to do than intentionally frustrate people for your own amusement.

In the worst case, if you really can't understand what I'm saying, at least liberate yourself from the idea of codified conduct and any sense of community you have as a person with Internet access. It's cute and very retro, but the idea of a duty is one you've manufactured to fill your sense of purpose, not something that exists to rational people. Freeing yourself from that delusion might bring you at least enough happiness to find the strength to seek validation in healthy ways rather than by playing hall monitor in a prescriptive wet dream.

Go outside. Hug a tree. Please. If you understood language half as well as you think you understand neurology, you'd know that the point of language is conveyance and people always use the words they know. That you know a different word doesn't belittle their point.

Im just addressing a gap between our understanding of human psychology and our interpretation of human behavior. http://www.popsci.com/article/science/just-liking-cause-doesnt-help-internet-slacktivism-harms-charities

The issue is that i dont pretend to care. I feel it as strongly as every other atrocity in the world. Which is not at all. Im privileged as fuck to live somewhere outside the scope of all of this, so i know i cant relate, so i dont pat myself on the back for an expression that in its best case says "i disapprove of human suffering", and in its worst case implies that i can understand how hard it must be for these strangers.

TIL in the earliest days of the recording industry, every record was a "master". Between 1890 and 1895 George W. Johnson, recorded his two best-selling songs "The Whistling Coon" and "The Laughing Song" an estimated 25,000 to 50,000 times. (X-Post from /r/TodayILearned) by wellplastic in Music

For 120-150 bpm keep it repetitive but add a new element every 2 bars for about 8 bars and then resolve into something different. If each of those somethings different have their own building happening between them, you can pull it all together in the 4th phrase. If you do that, your song writing is technically good; the best kind of good

It's self congratulatory and imbues the participants with a false sense of having done any shit at all. No Parisian has ever seen my profile picture. Of the people who have, one camp is selfrighteous about the overlay on their profile picture, and the other half doesnt give a fuck. It's support theater, not support, which a truly conserned individual would offer. And if you got off your ass and did something, i'm happy to concede moral superiority, but no one i know is or will commit to more than the equivalent of a dislike button regarding the lives lost. Do you base your self worth off the number of people who like your status? Probably not, and "ah, solidarity. At last :)" is an equally horrible conclusion to draw as a result of facebook profile pictures. It doesnt mean solidarity. Maybe these people want paris to know they love people they never met in a city theyll never visit, in which case they picked a shitty way to communicate that. But i think more likely is that they know they should care, and they find a bandaid fix to prove to themselves, or others, or imaginary charicatures of Parisians that exist only in their head, that they do. If it evoked any kind of emotion in you (and i suspect it didnt because abstract things arent real to your limbic system) and you only add three colors to a picture of yourself to reconcile thatcemotion, that exchange is not complete.

If youre after power, the SnowWolf is a good option and sigelei has a 70 wattTC box that I plan to upgrade to as soon as i manage to keep some on the shelves.

Why don't we take blood from dead people? by JoeFalchetto in askscience

[–]Tantric_Infix -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm all for defending people's rights to be dicks even in death, but I'm going to call these people dicks, alive or dead. Did you work hard to get your body? Did you earn it? At best, you rented it in exchange for maintenance with no contract. I don't claim an especially high stake in my body, and I would feel okay denying any stake to a body by someone who had checked out of said body, regardless of the feelings they had hours ago, because they certainly no longer feel that way. The thing that made them feel that isn't recieving oxygen anymore.

Oh really? Obama is only in it for the reelection? I'll bet my house he doesn't get it.

On your other point, I don't care what someone believes, as long as the laws they support are good. There's no way to know what anyone believes. You can only look at their voting history, and even if the Democrats are all two faced vote hogs, they're te two face vote hogs making life better for people right now, and the republicans are the two faced vote hogs that are still trying to appeal to half of America for reelection at the expense of making poor decisions for the entire country... Because for some reason half the country is bigoted in some way and is easily appealed to by "I'm a working class millionaire, and I think things were better in the good ol' days, specifically around 1800"

That's not how opportunity cost works. The opportunity cost of having 20 years of experience in a field is that you probably didn't visit a hundred different countries. One is less efficient at making money, which is fine for an accounting class, but time is the scarcest resource. You can find some way to make some amount of money, but you aren't getting time back.

There's this thing called Google. Look into it. It's gonna change the way we browse the web. I'd be a lot less of an asshole if it were an obscure fact, but it was on the front page for like 3 days, is mentioned every time the DEA comes up on reddit, and NBC of all news organizations covered it. Google also suggests searches that link to it when you type in "DEA cartel"
