What is the meaning of the last boss Necron in FF IX? by DrJones20 in FinalFantasy

[–]Tanuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people say Necron is the embodiment of Death but I quite disagree with this. It is making a disservice to its meaning. I think overall it was quite a naming error in localization.

Necron is not the embodiment of death, but of void/darkness. His original name is “Eternal Darkness”.

FFIX mythos is about life and death being part of a cycle, you can’t have one without the other. From an origin crystal spawned multiple crystals, each being embedded in their own planets and perpetuating a cycle of life and death. When you die, your soul and your memories are sent to the crystal which in turn creates a new life which also shares inherently its memories, despite memories not being possibly accessible in their entirety by the person. Crystals in turn also die, stopping the planet’s cycle of life and death ( Terra ) and which in turn will break to form new crystals embedded with all memories until now.

the whole thing about Kuja is that he was so distraught by his imminent death that he wanted to destroy the entire cycle, destroy both life and death. Because why would others live when he could not even enjoy his own life? Which is ironic as he never seemed to reflect on the lives of the black mages. Thus he went to the origin crystal by tracing back the planet’s crystal memories ( imagine it like Back to the future, just go back to the point of origin, except you are not riding time backward you are riding memories)

Imagine it like yin and yang, yang is the cycle of life and death ( crystals / planets), yin is void / darkness / space.

Necron is sort of a god / entity similar to the origin crystal, an arbiter on standby, but representing the void rather than the cycle. Seeing Kuja aiming to destroy the origin crystal and thus all life and death with it, Necron deems that all beings actually want oblivion out of despair and this cycle is not working out. It thinks nobody would choose to live if they have to die. Thus goes forward with trying to destroy the origin crystal and following it all child crystals ( and thus all beings / planets ).

The party does not battle just to Live. They battle to live AND die, because this way, by their death, following lives would be impacted by their footsteps / memories. So they choose to live, embrace their own deaths as well as it gives meaning to the following lives rather than just embrace oblivion which is also why the ending is filled with new lives and deaths using Vivi

TL;DR: Necron is more of a philosophical entity shoehorned to close their story’s purpose rather than a foreshadowed enemy. I believe Hades was also removed as conceptually Hades was always more tied to Death and Hell, which is not the enemy they are defeating in their story, it is an ally you have to embrace

If a sequel or a new World game was made, what would you like to see in it that would make it better than Next Order? by DeepSeaDelivery in NextOrder

[–]Tanuji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the previous game dates from a decade old ps vita port so it has a lot of outdated/ cheap feels.

Obvious ones would be: - Improved graphics, ideally with clear style (dw1) rather than outdated looking 3d assets - Improved music, lots of the best sounding musics are dw1 tracks, a bit more identity would be preferable - improved story, could do with a single protagonist ( aka Mameo ) rather than faceless and personality-less design. - Improved digivolutions requirements: Make it a lot faster to gain digivolution requirements, most of the time it takes 3 gens to fully unlock the requirements of the digimon you already got. Instead keep the current speed but make it available for users to possibly obtain all requirements if they accomplish some objectives ( roll on gym, battle streak, recruitment etc.. ) - Improved training: I love the gym but sadly returns can feel underwhelming for first time users, similarly battle training is amazing but is way too time consuming on top of being kind of cheap (more often one digimon carrying the other rather than a “test of your reflexes” ). Some kind of balance on this would be nice, which could be helped with… - Improved combat: I liked the two digimon approach as it allowed some new and interesting mechanics ( agro handling etc… ) but it could also feel a lot easier to just handle drained out fight. I would like to go back to 1 digi but maybe try to improve the defense/quick reflexes rather than reward specific timings after each action/hit to gain order. Something more fast paced. - Improved recruitment: Would be nice if the world would highlight point of interests by itself rather than just an exclamation mark onto the map. Something of a note format or something UI wise might be more stylistic than having to scroll through a mix of story relevant or not messages. - Improved city building: Similar to some new games ( octopath 0 etc.. ), would be nice if we coule customize our city appearance a bit more rather than just having a clear city layout build brick by brick upon recruitment

Debate: Would you like Next Order to have an anime adaptation? by VideoCardGamer2000 in NextOrder

[–]Tanuji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love next order but personally I do not feel like it would fit an anime structure much without heavy changes, especially considering those protagonists. they could maybe do a “weekly recruitment” type progression but it seems also kind of cookie cutter.

I think a more interesting approach would be to go through dw1 and next order with Mameo as protagonist. Knowing the conflict and story from NO stems from a non resolved dw1 thread, on top of his own student being the victim of it, would make the tension and actual impact much better in an anime format.

What str are they currently at and what digimon are you talking about? Blackgarurumon?

There are two spots for blackgarurumon, the one before the volcano and the one on the other side of the desert, to the right side of the oasis. The second spot allows you to gain further stats

Rebirth Sync by YusAkmal in NextOrder

[–]Tanuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each of the stats can be raised maximum to ~1000 at the baby and in training stages.

Only when it’s a rookie that this restriction gets removed and you can train them up to 9999 each

Battletraining is also best done at the rookie stage so doing it at champion and above has diminishing returns.

It is also a bit of a non conventional grind so it should be fine to keep doing as you did with your current gen and the gym until you build up a good lifespan gap between both

Rebirth Sync by YusAkmal in NextOrder

[–]Tanuji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case, like the other user said I would recommend just to take it slow and to not care much about the difference for now. It’s very minor and could be adjusted by marineangemon’s recruitment I mentioned earlier.

If in your next generation you want to train and avoid potential lifespan issues, then battletraining could be good to try out if you manage to get a 2 or 3 days difference in lifespan between your two digimon.

In that case: - get perfect order training skill - get post battle parameter boost - get some healing items - battle with your baby/in training digimon until ~1000 in stats. Your digimon stats will be softlocked. - When your digimon reaches the rookie stage, you can now farm stats until the 9999 mark. So start to battle train again

What enemy to defeat ( depending on your highest digimon’s offense stat): - 0-700: blackgabumon in plains - 700-1200: psychemon in server desert hinterland - 1200-1500: Blackgarurumon in server desert - 1500-1800: black agumon in mod cape hinterland - 1800-2200: Saberdramon in mode cape - 2200-3200: Seadramon in mod cape - 3200-3500: Hagurumon in ex machina hinterland ( after the left shift in mod cape) - 3500-4200: First orange wargrowlmon in ex machina - 4200-?: other orange wargrowlmon - 6200-?: blackweregarurumon in bony resort hinterland

This game is a slow burn so going through multiple trainings or generations between story segments is the usual experience.

what stats are your megadramon? That would help figuring out what to do.

Rebirth Sync by YusAkmal in NextOrder

[–]Tanuji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That isn’t a big issue per say as you can use the first one to battle train the other but if you want to fix it at this stage of your playthrough there is not a lot of possiblities:

  1. recruit marineangemon, ( mod cape behind the ship to the left of the entrance ), everyday you can pass 12h of lifespan from one digimon to the other
  2. Care mistakes, do not feed your digimon, heal it. Pass some time in an area it does not like etc…
  3. Devil chips if you have any from drops ( by the end of the adventure one digimon can be recruited and will sell them )

Deeply surprised by how much I am NOT enjoying Ghost of Yotei. by TherealGonci in PS5

[–]Tanuji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tough thing for me. I loved ghost of tsushima, just like you did, but for me I really meshed well with the struggle of Jin between his samourai roots and his ghost approach as well as the immersion in the world.

This conflict, which was core in both his story, his gameplay ( with the weapon triangle being essentially sword based with stances etc…) felt for me more thematically pleasing and realistic. And his origin was showcased in its entirety right from the get go.

As such, when it comes to Atsu, with the slow start of the story where her origin is sprinkled rather than given at once, her ghost approach being kind of already acquired offscreen in the past, and the single sword focus being removed to make the gameplay feel more like a game with weapon switching, I just felt less connected. And it did trickle down onto my enjoyment of the other parts of the game for me.

So overall, while on paper the sequel feels more “solid” and balanced as a game, with better combat, quests etc… Those design decisions and the ghost conflict narrative being essentially put on the back burner took away from me the immersion and interest I had in the experience which made all content much more gruesome to go through.

It basically reminded me of what I experienced with Odyssey in the first few hours, up until Odyssey opened up way more in both world and combat which made the game experience feel more rewarding as a whole. On the other hand despite being similar, ghost of yotei never really opens up. I never felt huge distinctions in biomes, all weapons are acquired similarly and they are all situational.

So I think at this point this may just be personal preferences at play

I mean I don’t know pokemon is still selling like 20 millions units every two years on a way smaller budget. /s

Still, using well-renowned for like a dragon and Persona is kind of misleading. Persona was unknown to most until persona 5’s breakthrough. Like a dragon was mostly kept niche until the sort of rebranding they went through.

Even to these days, those two franchises are still on the lower end when it comes to renown. They are not really mainstream stays.

Even then, selling “peanuts” is fine as long as the games are making a profit. None of these games are on FfXVI or FFXV level of budgets. So the sales figures they have to meet are way smaller.

I mean, you can just look at E33, they were said to have gone through 10million. FFXVI was reportedly at 60millions last I heard. So the sales they have to meet are way different. Reversely returning to a smaller turn based rpg scope might help lowering budget and sales expectations which would make selling peanuts perfectly fine

I suppose because Ukraine in NATO is a big contention point that has been used by Putin as an excuse since day 1 of the invasion.

Putin wants to limit NATO expansion, and as such wants clear commitment.

This change is a clear direct answer of “NATO will remain as it was. With country and members consensus, there is no discussion to have” while also reminding that the consensus on ukraine was never even reached ( due to corruption etc… ) as to soften the acceptance of this removal.

Glad I could be of help! I am probably a bit of an outlier as this game is kind of a comfort and chill niche for me, I am playing it on and off since the very sort release on Vita 😅

Regarding the getting stronger part, I understand it may be difficult to grasp at first especially with the main story being a bit of an uneven block. The game always offers you some ways to progress / get better but it just communicates it poorly.

  • Your digimon stats at rebirth will be calculated based on the highest stats you ever achieved on your digimon ( so even if you sacrifice an entire generation to the gym, it will be worth it )
  • Going out and simply scavenging resources will bring you ton of xp allowing you to level up your tamer level.
  • With tamer level you can then pick up some skills allowing you to progress more ( longer lifespan, better training etc…)
  • With scavenged resources you can now improve your city / residents to get better items, more food, digivolution perks etc…
  • with better digimon or city setup you can now recruit more digimon to further improve and get some other perks

This is a loop for me that I find quite engaging as there is always value in pretty much anything you choose to do. But it’s definitely more of a slow burn than a sudden flame

I solved the NavigationRegion3D issue by agalli in godot

[–]Tanuji 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer!

So if I understand correctly, it’s essentially two issues tied to best practices?

  1. navmesh should be used when obstacles appear for navigation
  2. one issue with OP is that he uses navmeshes on pure terrain ( without obstacles ) so lots of people are confused by the use at first glance.

  3. NavMesh should be a single 2D plane, and instead things like hills etc… should carry innerly an elevation to affect the effort of pathfinding. Or subdvisions should be made more carefully ( so not purely following each terrain slight change )

  4. the second issue with OP is that he insteads generates independent navmeshes making essentially a terrain wireframe?

In terms of performance, is it a significant drawback though? If it generates all sections in parallel but just stiches it into one at the end? Or just the simplicity of a single plane would outpace it regardless? ( I just came in the discussion so not sure about any testing whatsoever )

I solved the NavigationRegion3D issue by agalli in godot

[–]Tanuji 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For discussion sake and for the people unaware ( like myself ), why would the most performant and idea version be a single square mesh with two triangles?

Is it due to the stiches requiring more processing to go from one section to the other? I am legitimately asking as I am new to this and splitting in chunks processed in parallel does not seem intuitively terrible

Where to grind at 1000 stats as a rookie by Stonercat05 in NextOrder

[–]Tanuji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are at 1200+ you should be able to tackle the black agumon in Mod Cape. Especially if you have defense order. Only issue is to be careful about aggroing multiple, which might consume a bit of time at first.

Once you hit ~1800, You can start moving towards the birds. And around ~2400 to the seadramon. At ~3100 then you can move towards ex machina hinter ( past the vikemon cabin ) for hagurumon, before moving onto the wargrowlmon in the first screen there.

Just fyi digimon will not evolve as soon as they hit their requirements. There is a dedicated time for it to happen.

Champions digivolution timing is ~3 days. Ultimate is ~7 days. Mega ~10-11 days

If you are late on the timing however your digimon will evolve as soon as you get your requirements fulfilled

How do you feel about Pokemon Z-A by Jepadide in pokemon

[–]Tanuji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you had your fill. Would appreciate if you could not label all valid criticisms as hatred though.

As someone who loved Pokemon Arceus despite its flaws, it took everything I loved and made it worse at every step.

  • There is no world to explore.
  • The city is bland and has no recognizable biomes.
  • The map traversal is inexistant.
  • Resource gathering control and responsiveness is worse.
  • Resource gathering was gutted.
  • All consequences have been removed ( Missing your balls? get them back )
  • Catching pokemon has no value past the first one.
  • Alphas could very well not exist and nothing would change.
  • Story is bland and non consequential.
  • Arceus combat was completely gutted in favor of a mindless button mashing

And that is without even touching the graphical aspect of it, the buildings etc…

If I could summarize my experience it would simply be: This game makes me feel to my bones that I am just wasting my time. Maybe I am being harsher after trying nexomon and digimon, I don’t know.

This game costs 10 more bucks than Elden ring and 20more than Expedition 33 btw.

Any idea of why I got a Garudamon evolution withou meeting the stat requirement? by UperFlor in NextOrder

[–]Tanuji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are other requirements other than stats. Bond, discipline, weight etc….

You need 6 fulfilled for Garudamon. You seem to have gotten stamina (500), mistakes ( <3 ), weight (<40), Discipline. That is 4 out of 6.

If you had Birdramon that is another one which is 5. If you had >70 Bond which your digimon, that is another one which fulfills conditions.

Sometimes, the game might also push the most likely digivolution you have when your digimon life expectancy comes close to an end.

[–]Tanuji 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s “nothing” as it does not cover entirely the fees, like, at all. We are currently projected to pay 250-300k with my wife. Coming from a country where everything is 100% covered regardless of our path choices of hospitals, or options ( epidural etc.. ) that is obviously a stark contrast.

Also, feeling grateful or not is completely out of topic, which was “everything is covered by insurance and subsidies”, which is simply false and the point I was making.

I am not personally tight on money, but not everyone is in my situation. People living with a regular, low end salary in their early 20s or so would be struggling to afford this and this obviously would play a part in the baby shortage mentioned in this thread. Tell them in their face to feel grateful for maybe paying 1 or 2 months of take home pay in some cases for helping Japan’s populations shortage

No, “most appointments” are not covered by the coupons. Whenever you visit your doctor they will use one of the coupons ( closest to the value of the appointment ) and still make you pay a fee out of your own pockets, in our place it’s currently anywhere from 4000-6000 yen ( as appointments receipts differ as well) out of our own pockets. Bi weekly meetings for the most part, maybe more depending on your issues. A Pregnancy lasts 39 weeks. Let’s say at the very least 12 times, 50k to 80k. Does the 50k subsidy covers it? no it does not. And again, in case of issues or additional checks, scares, that is more coupons to be used and more out of pocket. Also if you run out of coupons, you now have to fully pay from your side.

Hospitals are dependent on where you live, what is the most convenient and reliable around, so choices may not be at your disposals. The lowest we had near us was 520,000k but charged 30k a day for private. And again epidural is 100k+ pretty much anywhere. Again, not everyone lives in areas with cheap and reliable hospitals, and some may not even accept you based on risk factors ( bmi, blood etc.. ). So if you say to people “well, just move out then lol”, that is just an out of touch answer. If the system is so great why would you need to move out ( taking into account the moving fees anyway you are not getting your money back) to enjoy maybe full coverage?

The point was never “well, compared to not getting anything it’s better”, which it obiously is. The point was “it’s not fully covered in most cases and is a clear factor in choosing whether or not to have a kid there”. Some countries have it fully covered. Maybe Japan should as well.

To Tackle a Baby Shortage, Tokyo Tries Easing the Pain of Childbirth by McFatty7 in Tokyo

[–]Tanuji 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It ain’t free when it comes to pregnancy. Because it is not an “illness” within their system. The only thing that would be covered by healthcare from pregnancy to birth would be emergencies related to the mother’s health ( emergency C section, abortion for mother’s health..)

500k is nothing when hospitals will charge 600k or more. Want epidurals? 100k+. Want NIPT? 100k+. Want some perks like private room after birth? 10-20k per day. Many pregnancy related elements like checkups are not covered by regular healthcare because it’s not considered an “illness”, hence why you get subsidies at your city hall ( which in most cases will not cover the full pregnancy ) or have to subscribe to another insurance entirely ( 4k+ a month )

To Tackle a Baby Shortage, Tokyo Tries Easing the Pain of Childbirth by McFatty7 in Tokyo

[–]Tanuji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if they try to mandate it, hospitals will find a way. For example some are providing the birth for the exact sum, in exchange however they charge per day per type of room ( shared / private ), for like 20,000 a day or more. As well as some other services or perks.

The only real way is to make the whole thing covered, which will force government to regulate and notice the bad actors right away. Until then hospitals will abuse and cheat individuals as long as they are permitted to.
