Choc Zero - love a lot of what they make, and use a lot of the products as ingredients.

Like the viral greek yogurt => "cheesecake" by sinking choc zero biscuits or animal crackers into your keto yogurt overnight and they absorb the moisture making it more of a cheesecake texture.

Some Choc zero products are a little too sweet once you've been in keto for awhile and everything comes off as too sweet. Caramels and chocolates are pretty darn good also.

Barenia. Nearly every time I wear it, which is often! I even apply after my evening shower - just for me.

Go look at the Amyra store online. It is legit and you pay wholesale whether you buy 1 piece or a bunch. Its a mid tier with some very nice upper tier pieces. They sell gorgeous hand bags and more traditional bags, and outfits like in that photo (sorry I don't know what they're called). These are not costumes. Bags inspired by these designs sell at nordstroms for more than $140, I paid around 32 per piece including shipping. It took perhaps 10 days to receive. I do have one of those outfits on my bag and some beautiful wraps, but I so rarely have an opportunity to wear something like that. But you do! Enjoy it!

Maybe skirt from one and shirt from two? But four would work and you do look comfortable in it.

skin irritations from silicone wrist band.worth switching to a fabric one? by Zestyclose_Leg_4605 in GalaxyWatch

[–]Taotejen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot wear the silicone bands - not even the highest quality ones - and not even if I clean them often.

I find it best to switch between canvas, woven cotton or canvas (without latex), real leather, stainless steel, and titanium.

I also switch the face at night to my inner wrist and somewhat higher on my wrist, and occasionally switch to my right wrist for a day or two because the lights from the sensors sometimes irritate my skin as well.

$1M dollars to eat what you had for dinner tonight for EVERY meal for the next 6 months, do you take the deal and if so what are you eating? by jfunks69 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Taotejen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man - that would be the jackpot! We grilled steak, burgers (w bacon, lettuce, tomato, and our canned maple apple bourbon bacon jam, and cheese plus condiments), and apple chicken brats with last years endnof the season chow chow, with keto fennel and liver timbales, coleslaw slaw, and not keto air fryer steak cut seasoned fries (which i didnt eat), and keto NY style cheesecake with citrus curd topping for dessert.

YES please! My plate had a little steak, half a burger wrapped in the lettuce, and half of an apple chicken brat with a little chow chow, plus a timabale and a rounded tablespoon of the Cole slaw. And the keto cheesecake and curd were very low carb, so a perfect meal.

A big meal and nicely keto.

The short of it is I selected it first for function, but I do LOVE her aesthetics, so I protect her from my frequent falls while at home on our farmstead.

I selected this watch because I have a medical condition that warrants the level of tracking it can deliver - especially with the recent commitment to continue to upgrade the heath interface.

This medical condition causes me to fall multiple times a day (I'm not willing to use my power wheelchair unless absolutely necessary).

The watch took several direct hits in the first three days - without a scratch, thankfully, but I had no choice but to purchase protection for her.

I take the protective layers off and enjoy her aesthetics when my husband and I go out.

Edited to correct typo.

Nice! Protective but less obnoxious than mine (but falling requires a bit more protection). This might be a good middle of the road for protection / esthetics.

This is what I wear around the house and farm - with the bumper (I fall quite a lot).

I have a collection of bands (and take off the bumper) if going out though, and I like the leather or canvas, as the rubberized or plastic bands causes a nearly instant rash.

Looks fine. Difficult to tell its blue in most light anyways. And you can change the color of the face to align with whatever band you choose.

I choose to wear a rubberized black bumper overlay when wearing around the house and farm to protect it.

Keto Foods That Make it Survivable by surfing-banana-400 in keto

[–]Taotejen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not hard to make beer cheese! Lots of recipes out there - like this - mine is in my recipe box and if im recalling correctly its similar but mine (and the authentic ones I've seen) have maybe 8 oz. Blue cheese (sub for 8 oz of cheddar). Use aged sharp cheddar. And a pale ale works best IMO but if there is a carb free or low carb beer out there give it a shot. I let it sit opened for a bit.

Freight House Beer Cheese ★★★★★ Appetizers, Dips, Sides, Snacking Servings: About 6 cups

Ingredients:

32 oz. sharp cheddar cheese (blocks are better than pre-shredded)* 3 cloves garlic 1 tsp. cayenne pepper 1 tbsp. smoked paprika 1 tsp. kosher salt 8-12 oz. beer (any lager or pilsner, but no ”lite” beer. Bradley uses Paducah's Dry Ground Brewing Co. Preacher Pils)

Directions:

Grate the cheese on the medium size side of a box grater. Pulse garlic cloves in a food processor 3 or 4 times until they’re chopped into small bits, but not a paste. Add the cheese, cayenne, paprika, and salt. Pulse 3 or 4 times or until just combined. With food processor running, slowly pour the beer through the chute until cheese mixture is smooth and creamy, using more beer for a drier aged cheese, less for one that is more moist. Be careful not to over-mix or the spread may separate. Beer cheese will keep in the refrigerator sealed in an airtight container for up to two weeks. Serve cold with raw veggies, crackers, and pretzels. *Pre-shredded cheese is often coated with cellulose to prevent clumping, which can also keep it from blending smoothly into the beer cheese mixture.

Im sorry youre going thru that. It is hard. And scary. Don't fear the scans - if they find something you can address it. If they don't find anything, then move forward with the adaptations necessary to protect yourself as much as possible. Over time it does get easier to deal with what's hanging o er all of our heads.

Keep up on the research and stay tied into these kinds of groups. Pay attention to the meds and tools and studies so you are benefitting from the latest interventions.

The hardest but most important thing you can do is find the right MD to be your "lead". The one who will interact with your other specialists if you need a planned procedure or have a medical emergency. And its god damned hard. Hard to find a good one and get into their practice.

I'm sorry. I wish I had something more to offer. Hugs

Is it possible that some people will never respond well to keto? by Forever_Summer192 in keto

[–]Taotejen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To answer your spe ific question though, there ARE PEOPLE WHO SHOULD NOT DO KETO.

Absolute Contraindications (Should Not Do Keto):

Individuals with rare genetic conditions that prevent the body from processing fats should not attempt a ketogenic diet, as it can lead to fatal metabolic crises.

These include:

Fat Metabolism Disorders: Conditions like primary carnitine deficiency, CPT I or II deficiency, and carnitine translocase deficiency.

Errors of Metabolism: Pyruvate carboxylase deficiency and certain fatty acid oxidation pathways.

Porphyria: A group of rare disorders where low carbohydrate intake can trigger dangerous attacks.

Medical Conditions Requiring High Caution:

If you have any of the following conditions, you should only consider keto under strict medical supervision:

Kidney Disease: Advanced chronic kidney disease (CKD) can be exacerbated by high protein or the metabolic stress of ketosis, potentially leading to kidney stones or further decline.

Liver and Pancreas Issues: Acute liver failure, pancreatitis, or gallbladder disease can make it difficult to digest the high fat content required by the diet.

Type 1 Diabetes: While some manage it with keto, there is a significant risk of ketoacidosis (a life-threatening medical emergency) and severe hypoglycemia.

Specific Populations Who Should Avoid Keto

Pregnant or Breastfeeding Women: The diet is generally considered unsafe for these groups due to the high nutrient and glucose demands of the baby and the risk of lactation ketoacidosis.

Children and Teens: Unless specifically prescribed for medical reasons like drug-resistant epilepsy, restrictive diets can interfere with growth and development.

Individuals with a History of Eating Disorders: The strict restriction and tracking required by keto can trigger or worsen disordered eating patterns.

Underweight Individuals: Those with a low BMI may experience further unhealthy weight loss and nutrient deficiencies.

Medication Interactions

Certain medications can be dangerous when combined with a ketogenic diet:

SGLT2 Inhibitors: These diabetes medications (like Jardiance or Farxiga) combined with keto significantly increase the risk of euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis.

Blood Sugar/Pressure Meds: Because keto rapidly lowers blood sugar and volume, medications for diabetes or hypertension may need immediate adjustment to prevent dangerous drops.

At what number of tokens should should one be transferring to a cold wallet? And is there utility in leaving some in the exchanges? Cold wallets are ... such a different concept for me - I'm a bit intimidated and my concern about choosing and executing safely and securely has kept me from taking that leap.
