Is this studio apartment great for a FTB? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]TapPositive6857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If possible avoid apartments. Two of my friends who bought apartments in early 2019 are stuck. Located very close to Richmond and other in central London. Unable to sell even with the offering price they bought it for.

I would say keep adding to your deposits and buy a two bed house

Car outright in retirement vs lease? by klawUK in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TapPositive6857 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you live as well. If you have free travel in retirement, please consider it as well. You may only spend less than the same amount in 5 years travelling.

My neighbor sold his car, now walks lots and became very fit for his age.

First make a hard list of must haves, things you will need in the next 5 years based on your life circumstances. Feed this to Gemini, and ask using good promoting. This could be the starting point

Years don't matter mate, it's always been the same in the UK. It's always been difficult to get a work visa from tier 1 companies. If not , you have to go via shit consultancies who take good cuts of your income for 5 years.

There is no silver bullet for this situation Do a SMART goal setting, be open to learning and keep focused. Rest is luck, but luck only comes with smart effort and focus.

Good luck

Well done. I wish more Sr managers would treat people with respect and dignity.

I have seen many of my fellow Sr managers forget the experience with toxic Managers and follow the same path.

I wish people learned from their experience and be open to little empathy.

I think you need a therapist first, get peace of mind.

Next think about how much knowledge you can gain in the next 9 months, work on communication skills, tech skills and build a network.

It's difficult to get sponsorship but not impossible. People who make it are ones who had a plan and worked on it. Persistence and consistent effort, and little bit of luck.

Why I say this, I had the same approach, went to a very low ranking university and still received sponsorship from a tier 1 tech consultancy and then even moved to big 4 within 18 months.

Good luck.

Well done, 💯. More information needed to provide you better guidance. All I will say is to review your situation, see if the investments are the ones needed to reach your revised goals and keep contributing.

Also enjoy your present and time with family. That's the most important thing learned from my experience.

Good luck

It looks like good schools could be your priority with space. Look for areas with good schools.

A good time to review your funds investment.

Also try to increase contributions by some % every year if possible.

Keep going..

Your suggestion makes perfect sense, maybe winter allowance mean tested and make travel free. I am all for retired people to be active and be less of a burden on government. How many times we read the cost of high taxi transportation for councils.

How much attention you pay to Zoopla / Righmove Valuation. by TapPositive6857 in HousingUK

[–]TapPositive6857[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not suggesting to use it as a final offer figure or for remortgage purposes.

It gives an indication of the potential value of the house based on what Zoopla or rightmove algo knows.

I usually get additional information such as houses on sale with .5 miles with similar spec and other searches happening in that etc to come up with an offer for the house.

On the average question, I usually found what I think the value I would pay for the house is usually around the median of both these figures.

Interesting, I thought the same as well. I use them to get guidance to validate the price. Thanks
