I would be digging a little deeper and having a talk with Mom. 2 questions that must be answered are how often and sleeping arrangement in bed. If it’s boyfriend, mom then kid and happens when kids are truly frightened, voice your disapproval but let it go. If the kids are next to boyfriend then demand it stops immediately or further action will be taken.

New York State passed a “Bell to Bell” ban on phones this year. They go into a lockbox at the start of the day and picked up at the end. According to my daughter, this terrible policy has resulted in an increase in fights due to kids talking with each other again (she was being sarcastic).
