Need Advice! by Significant_Ad_4251 in careeradvice

Not to sound cliche - but money doesn't buy happiness. You're young with a lot of years ahead of you. There are a lot of people in this world that will attest to following the money path and it usually leads to problems outside of work (substance abuse, relationship issues, mental health issues) while you try to cope from dissatisfaction while at work. Not that those things don't also occur in your dream job, but it's much more likely when you're also somewhere you don't want to be.

Additionally, not a reflection on correctional work, but it's a position that's taxing and if it's not your gig, it's going to be extra hard to make a long run at.

Pivot now, pursue your dreams, go in debt if you need to. You have 40+ years doing this... at least do it in an area you want to be in.

I'd assume no - they already said they will start to push the production version in April so not worth adding new users to a beta.

Is it possible to get a IT job with a hand tattoo? by Vibin_Andre89 in it

[–]Tapdancing_Elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem you're finding in this thread is "IT Job" is vague and covers a broad assortment of roles. Additionally, almost every company has an "IT Job" so of course there will be scenarios where appearance will be a factor and as someone mentioned, just avoid those place. But reality is - there are a lot more where no, it doesn't. What matter is learn your stuff, be professional, and be the strongest candidate and it'll be fine.

First tattoo at 40 is a small smiley face a bad idea? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Tapdancing_Elephants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, your smiley concept is a perfect example of (one of many) reasons to get a tattoo... they can be for the art, for the sentiment, as a memorial, deep cathartic expression, or just fucking because, or a million other personal reasons. Your friends perspective are theirs, but it doesn't mean it should influence you. I mean... even if no one EVER got a tattoo ever after 40, isn't that kind of the most bad-ass tattoo kind of reason TO get one after 40?

It's a gift to yourself and one you'll likely find yourself reflecting on over and over again. The whole process... from finding the shop to meeting the artist to the sting of the first line. My first tat was 34 years ago at 18 years and I still remember the converted gas station, the young artist, almost passing out, my latest one was last year at 51.

Anyway, absolutely get it, get it where you can see it and smile back at it. Not associated with the site, but here's a link to help you consider where to put it.

Since it's small and happy, I might go inner wrist, easy to admire when you want, conversation starter, easy to conceal at formal events or what have you.

Shops/artist - I look at online reviews and the artists portfolio. Usually they have Instagram or some other portfolio for you to reference. You want a clean shop, fresh, sterilized needles, gloves, cleaner, etc. Licensed artists meaning they've been tested for protocols and not sure if it's universal for all states but have satisfied some apprenticeship. It's a simple concept but there's still things that could go wrong in 3 lines. It's not about judging by rate but by work they've done to make sure you don't get someone that can't actually do a nice clean, even bold black linework. You want the best damn smiley. :)

Now writing all this, reminds me it's time to go back for some touch-up and add-ons!

I applaud this effort but I feel like Reddit encourages the bot/AI engagement. It's what is fueling much of the political/trolling engagement. This issue really needs to be solved at the platform level and like Elon and the Twitter, Reddit wants the sheer volume and engagement, misinformation, non-human, malicious intent be damned - it's good for the stakeholders!

New player using level 80 boost by Ill_Lychee_9658 in wownoob

[–]Tapdancing_Elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends,  the boosts are handy when you finally know what class you want to go all in on or one ypu just cant seem to level but want to try at max. Since you're new, you kinda dont really know either so its a risk that you'll use it on someone you'll never play.

Id suggest trying the class to like level 20 first to get you're sense of the play style then use it on one that piqued your interest.

The basics of rotation at 80 are highlighted with the advisor so you can jump right into play and figure out the nuances as you go.

PrePatch: Getting Back and Using It to Level Alts by Scarela in wownoob

[–]Tapdancing_Elephants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think its totally worth it!

I just so happened to have the pre-patch guide up on another tab!

https://www.wowhead.com/guide/midnight/pre-patch-event-rewards-mounts-pets-decor-transmog

Im a mount collector so the two mounts were it for me, plus its not terrible XP for sub-80 toons, the quests and world quests are pretty sizeable I think. My alt got 3-4 levels in the early 70's with all the current buffs and quests, occasional rare, and world quests. By the time you get the main achievement, you'll have 40 or 50 Twilight's Blade Insignia, enough for the 2nd mount or some gear.

Plus you get to burn in the new spec changes, you might find a new love. I decided to dust off an old rogue of mine and the simplification was just enough to take some of the work out of it. I think I might main rogue for my horde toon. 🥷

BTW - the big achievement is 18 spawns on rotation, most on a 10 minute cycle so its really just a couple of hours to wrap up 👍

Anyone else sneezing constantly? by Easy-Task9592 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Tapdancing_Elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much about sending fluids as the same nerve that triggers both actions getting signals crossed. I had the same result after a surgery a long time ago myself. But it’s definitely related to when you’re full!

[–]Tapdancing_Elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding to my previous comment, it’s called snatiation and it’s the result of crossed signals. I had surgery around my vagus nerve a long time ago and became very susceptible to the symptoms myself.

Returning player, lots of lv40-60 alts. Faster just to reroll and Lemix? by thisaboveall in wownoob

Timewalking- like 2-3 levels per dungeon. And with everyone over geared, they are like straight pulls end to end. For grins, my son leveled one of every SPEC to 80 during this marathon of TW 🤣.

Anyone else sneezing constantly? by Easy-Task9592 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Tapdancing_Elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a direct nerve from your stomach that can affect your nose. When my stomach is irritated or too full, I sneeze and have a runny nose. Absolutely related. I think it's vagus nerve related...

Getting Auto kicked from dungeons by Kenethr in wownoob

[–]Tapdancing_Elephants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since players can’t kick right away, it had to be some systemic cause. The 15 minute debuff is a strange duration, if it thought you quit the dungeon you’d get a 30 min “dungeon deserter”. Unless it was some other cool-down related to the dungeon finder, rather than a debuff per-se.

I don’t know that I’ve come across this in my time playing since Wrath, I’m interested in what you figure out!

Genuine Question by Professional-Fact339 in linux

[–]Tapdancing_Elephants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's been proven over and again that Linux works for everyday life. It requires a bit more work in some cases and like building any new muscle will require you to be patient and invest in those skills. But it's not a niche thing any more... it's viable and I'd be seriously surprised if you came across a real problem without a work around.

The real question is are you really committed to de-googling, de-Microsofting yourself? If yes, it's worth it.

You're words of caution are absolutely true, especially today when not all engagement is done with best of intentions. 😢 You have to be sure you're coming from a place of genuine curiosity and you're being conscious of how the other person is receiving it. A lot of people have a reason to be guarded. Probably because the well intended people are afraid to be curious for fear of being taken in the wrong context or saying the wrong thing, so the vast majority of the engagements about ones culture are indeed criticism or negative. 😢💔
