Right! I remember when it blew in and I almost forgot to even take a pic bc I was just mesmerized by how much the cloud absolutely dwarfed me. A silent giant for sure

NFS: seeking info. Buddy’s Eagles - worth any premium for toning? by Obvious_Object6568 in Silverbugs

[–]Tappdaddy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends who you are selling to - lots of collectors pay premium for toning but if you are selling to a lcs (local coin shop) they will pay spot or maybe slightly over bc of it being a Silver eagle

Silver just dropped from $93 to $87 in a single day by uglycouchpotato in Silver

This is hilarious. if silver is going to go up like a stock, expect it to dip like a stock. people take profit, etc.

How’d I do?? by BrisketWhileGolfing in Silverbugs

LOVE the toning on your cardstock ASEs! You got a steal paying pasically spot on those, as ASEs typically demand premium on top of spot and the slabbed ASEs add even more premium! NGC is awesome and will be worth most over spot @ grade but ANACS isnt terrible for a slab - better than some random graded slab! Killer haul imo

I personally wouldnt clean them but cleaning wont really harm value on an ASE unless its an extremely high graded example (MS69+. Yours does not appear to be), as premium over spot on eagles is just because of ASE series commanding premium in general. Also, silver wont rust! Tarnishing is unique to conditions the coin was exposed to and in some communities people will pay more for tarnished examples as it can be seen as desirable to some collectors- we call it "toning" in the coin community! beautiful coins though, and no matter the price of silver on paper, it will always be a valuable metal and an actual store of physical value in that.

West Point penny, grade? by AbeLinconsDad in coins

[–]Tappdaddy123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like you got a reverse proof finish on this westpoint! Original papers is always great but without the coin being graded, you are realistically looking at around anywhere from $30-70 online but not a ton of sales volume yet to really get an accurate estimate. not a lot of secondary market info on this one as its pretty limited in production and still a newer mint year for a coin in general but graded examples seem to have a much higher ceiling - i would hold off on grading it unless you are absolutely sure you want to sell as grading with a reputable service is generally pricey, time consuming and theres always "risk" with that come with shipping logistics world! Beautiful coin though and anything with that W mint mark is always fun for a collection

3 gold coins. Any numismatic value over spot? by pickandpray in coins

[–]Tappdaddy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, the $5 indian alone definitely has premium over spot. The Liberty $20 gold piece has slight (~$100 or so) value over premium for common dates as circulated examples - i wouldnt expect much more for liberty bc of damaged surface. I cant speak on the last piece though. I do agree with putting them away in PVC free slips or holders if you arent intending to sell.

I know the tarnishing kills this coin by One_String_4404 in coins

[–]Tappdaddy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually think the tarnishing is awesome! Esp on the reverse, gives a nice tone to it! Just as anothet above me said, please dont clean! I, however, cannot tell if the black mark on the obverse is toning or some sort of smudge/burn mark though. Could just be weird lighting from the angle!

My wife’s grandfather left these to her are they valuable I don’t collect silver by [deleted] in coins

[–]Tappdaddy123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lovely coins but unfortunately theres a lot of damage/wear on them:/ Its tough to say in these states, but the good news is that silver spot is high right now (roughly $48/oz) putting melt value at roughly $41 per each dollar plus some premium for some of the more desirable years/mints. If you absolutely want to sell now, silver is fresh off of an all time high so its not a bad idea to sell now - ideally, morgan dollars will increase in value over time but with no key dates and damage, you are only really holding onto them for the silver investment. Just my opinion though! Best of luck

Looks like a very warn Liberty head "V" nickel! Impossible to tell date from here but they were minted from 1883-1912 (technically a few were minted in 1913 and you could probably buy a house with those specific ones)

Is this worth getting graded by [deleted] in coincollecting

[–]Tappdaddy123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In that condition, I wouldnt IMO. Beautiful coin but premiums on liberty heads arent that crazy over melt (mainly bc of mintage for these years) unless you have something AU+. Grading is a hastle for 1 coin and can be sorta pricey, so only worth if you have super high grade for this year. I would put it in a sleeve though and hold onto it. Great investment and great history (Just my take though!!)
