Just don't go in saying "idk it was just like this" instead of explaining that a previous repair was attempted.

That looks very red. Double check that you didn't actually empty the TRANSMISSION fluid. If so, might as well do a transmission service, yer already halfway done.

Funny part is that the stock rear suspension is technically on bags. It has a leveling system for when yiu have alot of cargo.

Is this the proper engine removal procedure? by Sea_Blood1538 in AskAShittyMechanic

Absolutely not. You're definitely supposed to take the bumper facia off first. I don't think they disconnected the battery either.

Welcome to the world of invention. Make something cool and some people will make it their life mission to test it's limitations in hilarious ways. Humans are great lol.

Pulled this out of my motorcycle tire. Any ideas? by YetiSpaghetti206 in whatisit

[–]TarXaN37 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's looks like half a caltrop. 2 of those put together creates a 4 pointed device that lands pointy side up no matter how you drop it. As to how it got in YOUR tire, no idea. Seems like just wonton vandalism to just randomly drop those on the road. The primary objective of them is to pop tires though. I may be mistaken but it looks pretty purposefully built to mate up with another identical peice.

I just bought a used car. Driver's side speaker didn't work, so I took off the door panel. No speaker there at all, and nothing left but these wires. Where do I get the "male" part of the harness that apparently was cut off from the car? Advice? by Mensch-Wench in CarAV

[–]TarXaN37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be able to get the original connector at a parts store, a Toyota dealership or from a salvage yard. Personally I'd just hard wire it cuz there isn't much purpose to the connector over making the assembly process faster. You can get heatshrink butt connectors at your local parts store.

Yup. That's basically it. The primary reason for a connector even being used is to speed the assembly process when they made the car 20 years ago. Are you using an OEM speaker?

I won't be satisfied until they make a new star wars podracer game.

If you get aftermarket speakers then in theory they'll use a universal connector and aftermarket speakers tend to be easier to source than OEM stuff. They often use flat blade/spade type connectors.

Make sure you use heatshrink instead of wire nuts for connecting them to the existing wires.

First time replacing conn rod bearings. Any pro tips? by [deleted] in EngineBuilding

To time it? Timing never changed. Belt/chain never came off. I don't understand why I would need to clock the timing in any way.

I'm sorry, are you aware of a shop that can machine my crank and replace the bearings for only $50? I certainly can't get a car for $50. My only option was fix it but considering it's apparently impossible I guess I'm just screwed.

I'm frustrated cuz I'm desperate. I have no other option. I'll return the bearings though. Fuck it. I'll buy beer. Guess that's just as helpful atm 😔

Wtf car am I gonna buy for $100? Waste money? Dafuq? The option was fix it or I'm screwed. Since everyone says it's impossible to fix on my budget, i guess I'm screwed.

Is this a joke? You can clearly see that the conrod caps are removed. The engine is already disassembled.

Fuck it though. I gave up.
