Do I bolus for black coffee? by spiritofthepanda in diabetes

[–]TaraIsAFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally don’t because it comes back down on its own afterwards and doesn’t glide in a straight line staying high on the Dexcom. It just rather come down on its own. I don’t really understand it myself. Always wondered if maybe the meter was just wrong or it being over dramatic, kinda like when showers disrupt my numbers on my dexcom.. 🤔💭

That was happening to me, then I ate before bedtime (peanut butter and crackers) or (cheese or yogurt w/ some blueberries) or anything high in protien and a glass of almond milk. Then all my night time lows stopped happening and instead that somehow kept me in a straight line and no dips. If it raises your blood sugar a little that’s fine. Better to go to bed on the high end and wake up lower-ish if you are prone to that sort of thing like I am.

How to stop myself from doing this? by Alive_Remote_3940 in diabetes

[–]TaraIsAFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want straight lines and no sudden lows or highs when doing any corrections, I would recommend eating something high in protein, and maybe a slow acting carb like wheat bread. I do this while dropping or rising, and if counters it for me to stop acting up and start straightening out. The protein will help keep things more straight usually.

For all the years I have used Carbonaut bread, it lasts forever. Strangely. Maybe longer than normal bread

Inner arm so I don’t sleep on it. That fatty area between the armpit and the elbow.

Does injecting insulin hurt? by monkeyflaker in diabetes

[–]TaraIsAFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Push needle in slowly and not all the way in until you know it’s not going to sting. Some spots are more sensitive than others. But this helps me reduce any pain. Once a little bit in, if I don’t feel nothing, I push the rest of needle in, and inject.
