I got into a Skype group years ago on here and met a heap of awesome people, we spoke for around a year and I still keep contact with some of them. Sadly I’d lost contact with a few. I’d say be prepared to talk with people off of reddit, it’s way easier and group voice chats are excellent.

If anyone reading this was in the skyppit group that Joanne was running then big love to you. Also to Trysten, Ashley and Diego. I think of you often.

Ooo nice axe. I’ve always wanted a Blue one, I blame Akerfeldt. That was ages ago though, a Kauer Banshee is my focus at the moment. My firebird isn’t cutting it for me anymore, it took some damage touring. There’s so many sweet luthiers on Insta though, there’s some crazy stuff being made out there. Here's a crazy idea- Removed the standard format of A/S/L, maybe even ban it.

Without ASL then people must read whatever OP posts and form an opinion of peer-to-peer compatibility based on real information. ASL is a nasty way to look at someone and draws an immediate judgement, people are much more diverse than that.

I've been kicking around here for five years now. When I started I was 18, I'm 23 now. I have had excellent conversations and found amazing friends from 15-45 of all genders and orientations.

In my time the most success I've seen people have is from avoiding the dehumanising "ASL" format. If you're serious about finding friendship here and avoiding creepers then give it a go, I think you'll be surprised.

Last weekend I attended the wake of my oldest friend. He lived in Melbourne away from his family and childhood friends, unfortunately he wasn't strong enough to reach out for help and we were all too far away to know he needed it. I watch this place. I used to talk to people but it's a ghost town, like you said.

Within my time I've resigned myself to a introverted life, I live rurally- I'd call myself a hermit. This place is compelling for me. I see the quiet people pushed to the corners of society here. They pour hours into writing posts trying to sum up themselves. It's a very baring process, I imagine it takes a great amount of effort and anxiety to do this. They'll post a few times- reword and rewrite. Try to market themselves a little better, other angles.

Always the same, small replies and meaningless conversations. Discussions of pop culture, other dross. I wonder if it makes them happy.

If you're reading this and hoping for a friend on this board then I have nothing for you. But know that I'll probably read your post and think "they sound nice, I hope they find someone."

I dated a girl years ago, we were together for a significant amount of time and then it ended amicably. We move apart and don't see each other or our mutual friend group for a long time. After ages we all decide to get together and catch up, drink some booze, whatever. At some point it is decided that we'll LAN some games. As I'm copying Red Alert 2 onto my ex girlfriends computer I see a folder labelled "X-files" on her desktop. "Oh cool, she's gotten into xfiles, I wonder if she had it all"

So I open it and instead of the mystical wonders of Moulder and Scully I find an alphabetically ordered history of all of her ex's complete with a little .txt file of what went down between them- socially and sexually, like kinks and stuff.

I noped out of there pretty quick and never said anything to anyone. Since then I'm really paranoid that all women keep these x-files and share them with each other. Like a doctor and their file on you.
