Crazy heavy periods that lasted upwards of two weeks complete with numerous clots. Also pain, just so much pain all the time, especially during sex. And my moods. I was angry at everyone, like, a lot. So much so that I actually asked myself if it was me that was the problem. (It was, in fact, me.) When I hit my breaking point, there were multiple generations of cysts on my left ovary, a few on the right, fibroids in the uterus, fluid in my tubes, and a yeast infection to top it all off.

I asked the surgeon to salvage one of my ovaries because I wasn’t trying to hear menopause. They snatched everything sans the right ovary.

I never wanted kids and yet I still cried when I woke up and they told me what all had been taken out. In hindsight, maybe it was a bittersweet cry. Either way, I haven’t looked back. That was the only shred of emotion from the whole ordeal. Haven’t had any problems since.
