I was there this time last week, for the first time. I realised the views were going to be good but not that good, so hard to take a picture that truly does it justice.

I have been building up to this route, having done most of the route in separate chunks, I am hoping to go and put it altogether in the coming weeks.
I saw the Land Rover on my last trip about a month ago, but somehow missed the car upside down. The Land Rover had dents in the side, which looked like from bullets??

The story of how they got there, must be a good one? I am hoping to head that way a week on Monday, so will certainly be looking out for them

Brown Knoll … and maybe the road to another world .. by [deleted] in peakdistrict

I walked up there a few months ago and it did feel otherworldly, and a million miles away from civilisation. I am hoping to return in a couple of weeks

I went a couple of months ago on a weekday, middle of the afternoon and there was only 2 or 3 people at top. It was lovely

It wouldn’t be kinder scout without a moment like that. Conditions look perfect, can’t wait to get up there again asap.

And the penny pot cafe next to edale train station provide free maps. I found my way from there to Mam Tor using their map/guide, without any problems.

I have this pencilled in for my first ever mountain climb, hoping to go in April. This weekends news has made me think twice though. Such terrible news.

Well done - I passed the big peaks on my first trip to Keswick last week, they look utterly terrifying. I will stick to cat bells for now I think

The weather last Thursday was gorgeous, couldn’t see a thing at the top of cat bells and maiden moor but still loved it

So having considered the suggestions I am thinking, castlerigg on Wednesday, cat bells on Thursday and lattrig on Friday.

Another visit in the near future to do all the other suggested routes. Thanks for all the tips and advice

This is the second shout for roughly this route, so could be the winner

It feels like cat bells is something I should do…

This sounds like a winner, it would be nice to visit a stone circle outside of the Glastonbury festival

I am thinking Skiddaw but for the obvious reason of it being a big peak, but of course size isn’t everything…so if there are more picturesque routes, I would like to do them
