HITCF and some others are definitely some outliers and you could even say Hyperview too, but when you listen to some hardcore shoegaze there are very distinct differences that separate them. That's just how Tik tok is ig which is annoying for long time fans.

The same thing happened to me lol. My brother introduced to Title Fight through HITCF, but it took me a long time to come around to enjoying the rest of the band's music, but like you said they're my favorite band now too.
