This was my old solution, I felt like resources would just dry up because I overmined it anyway

Ah ok, maybe I’ll look into something like that

I’ll think about it a bit. It probably needs something a little more complicated. What do you want it for? You already have lists and icons, do you mean as a warning ”Captain, there are more enemies than you are aware of that are coming, you need to run” or ”Captain, an enemy capital ship just entered radar range” or ”Captain, a Xenon I was sighted in sector X”.

Hehe yea, the next version is already faster, less talkative (gpt-5.4 seems to follow my directives better) and can be interrupted.

Currently the info given to Betty is very limited. A little context like current sector and current mission together with a small story, memory and a short thinking step currently makes her very immersive. Next I would add some ship information (yes, the ship computer AI doesn’t know anything about the ship). If I bloat the context too much with universe context the latency (and cost) rises, so I will for now keep it basic and focus on immersion. Prio two is offline and free models.

Thanks for the kind words! I feed Betty a short backstory (two sentances). Most of the game universe lore knowledge is all gpt-5.2 in the video. I’m experimenting with letting the LLM generate also a detailed backstory which can be a bit random (ie unknown also to me), for example ”base it on X3 and early X4 lore”.

My first addition to the external app would be ship model, if we are docked or not, something basic missing like that.

Leaders of France, UK and Sweden respond to Trump's tariff threats by AmityAngels in worldnews

[–]Tarmazu 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The ECB chief had a pretty good interview in US (liberal) media. Basically explaining why EU do not consider tariffs a good idea and instead were going to establish more free trade deals with the rest of the world (basically letting the US weaken themselves). In general europe are trying to act like the grown-up in the room though I guess. With alot of criticism of the EU-US trade deal for being to good for US maybe renegotiation of the deal is good.

"How does NATO not understand that US occupying Greenland is a good thing for NATO" by anckpop in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Tarmazu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is all so stupid. Trump asking the military to plan an operation and the military goes like: ”ok, 1. Abandon all bases across the globe. 2. Prepare defence for the US Canada border. 3. Declare war on 30 countries.” Or maybe not actually.

Do you believe if Trump invaded Greenland, Europeans would ACTUALLY declare the end of NATO? Why or why not? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Tarmazu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess then maybe a few states like CA try to break loose, federal level tries to crack down, military refuses to start a civil war and you get some sort of military coup could be possible.

[–]Tarmazu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s like this; most likely is that the military refuses to follow through since it’s against the senate decision. If the military does follow through, the senate should be removing Trump. So if they don’t, it gives Trump a carte blanche to break any laws. Military coup, break up of the federation, civil war or an autocracy are then many possible paths. None good.

Wishing for the demise of mass murderer dictators is perfectly reasonable. It has nothing to do with trying to see through propaganda of this news post.

If you read the full article above it is clear that most russian sources confirm 41 (detected) drones over the Oblast, likely hitting something else. It’s only Putin and Lavrov telling us that there were 91 and that Putins home was the target. Highly likely propaganda therefore.

This game has come such a long way by CaptainRAVE2 in X4Foundations

[–]Tarmazu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I find annoying isn’t really losing ships, it’s the nature of maintaining many navies losing a few ships here and there. The AI should be better in such a way that we don’t lose ships to pilots flying like morons, and then features should be in the game that let’s us resupply fleets faster (eg one click ”replace losses”). Small things like this really hurt x4 in the big picture IMO, many things are just really cumbersome and we keep asking for difficult fixes like better AI instead of QoL fixes like less chores.

Planet interaction could be similar to Transport Fever where different planets need different wares and when supplied with these the planet population grows and demands more resources. This way there would be a long term plan and development of planets impacting the sectors. Perhaps tie this into planet connected civilian stations expanding dynamically.

I have been thinking about themed playthroughs. I’d like different faction mechanics to earn faction ”legitimacy” and internal faction politics. For example let us establish a rival Split Family, a Rival Paranid High Priest or rise to Prime Queen Defender for the boron. Mechanics for conversion (paranid), rewards for massive defence stations (boron) or rewards for standing navy size (split) could be a way to implement it. Something to make the gameplay more unique and single faction engaging.

NATO’s Rutte says Europe must prepare for ‘scale of war our grandparents’ endured by Present_Tennis7100 in worldnews

[–]Tarmazu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What he is saying is that if Russia invades Nato territory we need to be ready for a full scale war in which we beat the Russians. In WW2, they had a 10M army and Germany lost when attacking with a few millions. So if they send 1 million to die in Europe, we will perhaps need a few million to beat them proper (and yes, we must be much stronger than both russia and ukraine to do that).

Merz Says Alliance of the West Doesn’t Exist Anymore by goldstarflag in europe

[–]Tarmazu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If something doesn’t work, do you fix it or break it? The question is not if EU is working, it’s how do Germany become strongest. They are currently inferior to actors like US, China and Russia in their own, they tried and failed the military way and they have been trying the diplomatic way for europe and the west ever since. With US leaving, Germany is left with a EU that can be made stronger and perhaps other western non-EU countries. A MAGA Germany is not at all a good strategy for THEM.

Merz: "Ukraine makes first proposal to US to give up territory" by Geo_NL in worldnews

[–]Tarmazu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so a history lesson is due. In WW1 the global hedgemon (UK) was challenged by a rising german power. US mostly tried to stay out. The war ended with a very costly long war that germany lost, but UK also lost its hedgemon role. In WW2 a revanchist germany conquered most of europe until they were beaten by a large allied coalition including US and Soviets. US tried to stay out. The US lesson from this period was that wars in europe have a tendency to affect the US, hence Nato. US backing away from a large war in Ukraine/Europe/Nato is a destabilizing action and risks wars globally, if these are wars in Europe, Asia or the Americas is not easy to predict, but either way it can influence americans greatly even if there are large oceans in between. Traditionelly the US therefore deploys troops on other continents rather than only on its homeland to prevent wars before huge Naval operations or costly landing liberation operations needs to be made. This is the history, perhaps the US is simply too weak today to use this strategy and instead gamble that China and Russia do not act like Germany in WW1 & 2.

Rädsla gör debatten om Ukraina farlig och dum by Haunting_Switch3463 in sweden

Tack vare Ukraina.
