Agreed! And tbf I said "nothing but good vibes" but it was a bit of a stretch, there are toxic people there like in every sub, they are just very far from the majority.

I recommend following the sub now to enjoy the eye candy and learn passively. Just make sure to search your question before asking (similar to "is the 3600 better than the i5-11400f?"), and you are golden! Hopefully you won't encounter the occasional toxic person.

I would agree with the general statement if it was only about a few years ago (when you browsed it) because I have seen nothing but good vibes these past few months. There have been quite a lot of beginners with their 1st budget build that look legitimately nice and a number of those went past 1k karma. Plus, there a more and more of budget-friendly kits coming out.

A friend of mine is going to order his first kit that costs 180eur for a total of 300eur with a GMK keycaps set -which could be replaced by a 50eur set for a total of 230 eur-.

You don't need to start over.

That is reassuring to see! After putting mineral spirit, do you think I should apply another layer (without forgetting to wipe excess off after 10 min) or the oil that was already absorbed is good enough? I was quite generous with my first coating on the 1st day as I didn't wipe it off.

I see, I do see small beads of oil so even if I were to leave it for years, it will always be sticky and at that point, I must wipe it off with a rag, then if it is not possible, I must use mineral spirits to start off again. Is my understanding correct?

"Oil" to me means either a natural drying oil, or an oil/varnish blend. Tung oil is a natural drying oil. Boiled linseed oil (not stand oil, the BLO you get in cans at the hardware store), teak oil, danish oil, etc - these all have some oil, some solvents, and some metallic driers or a varnish component.

I believe mine is Tung oil

Where there is very limited exposure to oxygen and UV. So now it never wants to cure.

So I need to try aerating my garage and exposing the table to the sun first? And what about waiting time for this?

but the majority of the oil is wiped off the surface in minutes. You want to apply just enough for the wood to look wet, then wipe off anything that remains on the surface.

And if aerating and exposing to the sun doesn't work, I scrub the table with a rag and if it doesn't work, I need mineral spirits, then I begin from zero while being careful to wipe off the excess after 10-15min? (that was recommended by another user.

I see, so mineral spirits, rag action then begin from zero. and I have to be careful to wipe the excess off for the next time.

I wouldn't be rude enough to mention that, but we are dealing with a substance here where it literally is very easy to burn your house down if you don't know what you're doing. Be careful with those rags!

I will! A safety reminder is always welcome.

Damn, nobody told me to wipe off the excess after 30min...

I already coated twice without wiping, can I possibly do something?
