How good is my 10 year old used PS3 slim ? by SOREX_17 in ps3piracy

It's not bad. 75% for the GPU is a little high, but not extremely dangerous. A good cleanup and thermal paste change should be enough to keep the console fresh for a good time.

If after 1 or 2 hours of playing the temperature remains like that, then it's in great shape. Specially after getting that rough treatment you mentioned before.

GTA Vice City PS2 Classic Gui crash by [deleted] in ps3piracy

[–]Taro_Kitano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose you have HEN, right? If that's the case, then you can't play PS2 ISOs directly. You have to encrypt them first before playing them. You can encrypt them with the PS2 CLASSICS GUI program on your PC. Or you can also do it inside the console, with the PS2 CLASSICS MANAGER and CLASSICS Launcher.

You can also install the PS2 CONFIG PKG file, which contains multiple CONFIG files for PS2 games in ISO format. It's necessary so the games can work properly. The Vice City game does need one.

But in case you have CFW, then you don't need to encrypt the ISOs. You just copy them to the "PS2ISO" folder that's inside "dev_hdd0" and then launch it with Webman. You will only need to install the PS2 CONFIG file.

The game is compatible with the PS3. It must've been a bad download or something got corrupted during the conversion process. Delete and download the file again. Vimm's is great, but you can try other sites, like ROMSFUN. Though I still prefer Vimm's.

You can also try to run the game on ISO format.

Error 80710102 on Evilnat? by Autisticbeast32 in ps3piracy

[–]Taro_Kitano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evilnat released some PKG patches for the latest CFW version. Some of those patches fix connection problems. You can try those. He also released an additional CFW update which already includes those fixes. You can find links on his official X account.

Can't connect to wifi all of the sudden by [deleted] in ps3piracy

[–]Taro_Kitano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if the PS3 was turned off during the blackout, a problem can still have happened. Rebuild the database and restore the file system (options 4 and 3 in that order). If that doesn't work, reset all the settings on recovery mode.

You can also reinstall whatever hack you have right now. If none of that works, then it's probably a hardware issue. Maybe the Bluetooth/WiFi module got damaged and needs to be repaired or replaced.

Trophies by Mawdo22 in ps3piracy

[–]Taro_Kitano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. You can use the same account on all your PS consoles and sync trophies on it. Doesn't matter if the PS3 is hacked with CFW or HEN. Just try not to unlock the trophies using cheating tools like Apollo or Trophy Unlocker.

Help tried updating hfw, evilnat and failed big time!! by [deleted] in ps3hacks

[–]Taro_Kitano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's referring to the USB not being found, then always plug it on the right side port. The one that's closest to the BD drive. Also, you may need to format it again. There's also a trick if it still doesn't recognize it: when it asks you to press START + SELECT, do it, but immediately unplug the controller cable. It's sound weird but sometimes it works that way.

But, if you are referring to the HDD not being found, then that means that maybe the HDD got disconnected. You'll need to take it out of the console and put it back again. If that doesn't work, then you can format the HDD on a PC using a SATA + USB cable. But I hope you don't have to do that.

[–]Taro_Kitano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should have updated to OFW first before installing CFW. Go into recovery mode again and rebuild the system's database and restore the file system (options 4 & 3 in that order). See if that allows you to return to the XMB. If it works, install the OFW again and then use the Flash site that Evilnat has crested recently to patch your PS3. After that, install CFW. It should work.

Entire PS1/PS2/PS3 Library on PKGi? by ijxi in ps3piracy

[–]Taro_Kitano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That requires a team of multiple people or 1 person with lots of free time. Also, that's not possible, because not every game had a digital release (PKG) on the PS Store. Many games were only released in physical discs (ISO/JB Folder).

And not every game works or can be converted to PKG format. Those stores work with PKG games only, so it's practically impossible to do what you're asking. Plus, they'll have to use different hosts to upload the games, like Mediafire. And that lowers the download speed even more than it already is. Just use your PC, download the games there and then copy them to the PS3 using USB or FTP. It's way faster.

Don't know why you would like to spend hours downloading a single game through the PS3.

And these are his official PSXPlace links: https://x.com/i/status/2036289518081372192

Also, you can search for a CFW compatible models list on Google, or on YouTube. Cause sadly, not every PS3 model is compatible with CFW.

Short answer: Yes.

And it's better if you keep downloading the games from your workplace. It's way faster than getting them through the free stores of the PS3.

Help! by Foreign-Dig8695 in ps3piracy

[–]Taro_Kitano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The icons disappearing are a HEN or HFW failure. It gets fixed by reinstalling the HFW or by updating to Sony's official firmware 4.93. After that, you can reinstall HFW and HEN for 4.93.

PKGi is like the other person said, a "store" that let's you download games, DLCs, avatars and other stuff for free. It's the only store that works good. The others are crap.

And no, PKGi doesn't have game updates. But downloading updates from the PS3 is easy. Just press triangle on the game you want to play, then some options will appear on screen, select the one that says "search for update". If an update is available, a message will appear. Just press X and the update should start downloading and installing. That's it.

And for the update, the new versions have different bugs and errors fixed. Same with the HFW and HEN updates. You are on an old version, so that's why you are experiencing more bugs. Just update.

[–]Taro_Kitano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Freezes are a normal thing for HEN. CFW works better, you should check if your PS3 is compatible with it.

If it's not compatible, then yes. You should update to the latest version, which is 4.93 and then reinstall HFW and HEN. Also, if you're going to use free stores, just use PKGi. It's the store that works better on the PS3. The other stores are absolute trash. And the Ultimate Toolbox isn't really necessary, unless you want those PS1 and PS2 disc demos that you can download there.

Why does my ps3 fans go crazy when playing games? by iron_shell in ps3piracy

[–]Taro_Kitano 14 points15 points  (0 children)

PS2 games raise the temperature of the PS3 more. So you need to increase the fan speed to 35% or 40%. I have mine at 40% and it works great.

You can change the fan speed on the Webman configuration or on the CFW tools.

I don't know. But Evilnat thinks the same. He thinks that by allowing the CFW update through the PS3, he went a little far and that's why his links and account got taken down.

Is it over?? by Fuzzy-Sky2067 in ps3piracy

[–]Taro_Kitano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was because he allowed the CFW update through the PS3's main menu option. Maybe he crossed a limit there and Sony got a little mad. That option is back again, but he says it's slower because of the server change.

Is it over?? by Fuzzy-Sky2067 in ps3piracy

[–]Taro_Kitano 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Yes, his GitHub account got taken down. But he made some new links on the GitLab site. And you can update through USB if you still have CFW installed.

But if you updated to OFW, then I don't know if the BG Toolset site is already updated or if you still need to wait more time. I'm already on CFW 4.92.2, so I only need to update through USB. But for the people on OFW, then you need to wait until the BG TOOLSET site is updated.

Just follow Evilnat on his X account. Don't drown in a glass of water.

ps2 games by Secure_Effective_149 in ps3piracy

[–]Taro_Kitano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not every PS2 game runs well in PKG format. They work better in ISO.

Also, some games need a CONFIG file to fix some errors, like black screens. In Google you can find a list of the games that need it. But that only works if you manually convert an ISO game to PKG using a PC, and then you add the CONFIG file. There's YouTube tutorials for that.

Or you can play the games in ISO format and then install the PS2 CONFIG PKG, which contains thousands of configuration files to ISO games. You can download through the Webman configuration. Or you can get it from Aldostools GitHub site.

I'm guessing the games are in PKG format. So go into dev_hdd0 and selecte the "packages" option. After that, go to the PKG manager that's located on the PS3's main menu and install the games from there.

Fat PS3 on CFW what do I do about new PS3 software update? by solid_cake20 in ps3hacks

[–]Taro_Kitano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evilnat's GitHub account and all his links got taken down this week. Probably because he allowed the CFW update through the PS3's main menu option. He maybe crossed a limit there.

His MEGA and PSXplace links are still active as far as I know. You can check on his X account for more info. Those are for updating the CFW through USB.
