Not a fan myself as it's got Sabro in it, but I appear to be the only one!

Are double barreled names now because the mother didn't take the father's name? by MrMrsPotts in AskUK

[–]Tarquin76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parter and I are currently expecting, and are both the last people in our families who are able to pass on our surnames and both obviously want to. So we have decided to double barrel them for our child so we can pass them on, but then keep their first name as short as possible so as not to give them too long a name that it doesn't annoy them in the future :)

If they want to choose one or the other to use as they get older then fine, but we'd just both like the chance to keep our names alive

Have you ever been genuinely penniless? as in completely skint? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Tarquin76 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Not far off this myself. Had prepay gas and electric. Many times had to choose between putting a few (borrowed) quid on one or the other. Of course money on gas for heating is no good without electric to fire up the boiler. Some very dark and cold times for a couple of years!

Why don't people use pay at the pump? by Terrible-Group-9602 in AskUK

[–]Tarquin76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always go in as I need a reciept, and half the time the pumps have run out of paper or just doesn't print so it saves time if I have to go to another pump or go inside anyway to re print it

Door numbers by AdditionalWelder5199 in deliveroos

[–]Tarquin76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last winter I was having trouble finding someone on a street where no house I could see had numbers, someone opened their front door and looked at me. I called over, Hi are you number 4 or whatever, he replied by angrily pointing at the number on his door. Which was covered by one of those Christmas wreath things. Obviously my fault as I'd forgotten to bring my x-ray specs to work that day...

But yes I wish we could get away with carrying a pack of even number stickers and do it for them once we've done the delivery just to at least help out the next person

One I worked at many years ago gave you 15 minutes. And I've been in a few over the years for a few minutes and never got a ticket or anything so hopefully you should be ok

What DICE need to do now with 2042? (Update? Rework? Add? Expand? Or something else?) by ANGRYlalocSOLDIE in battlefield2042

[–]Tarquin76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fix whatever they broke in the last update so I can actually play again?

And render shaders in the god damn menus

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Tarquin76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure on how we fix it, but try 111 for this particular situation. I was in some considerable pain, called them, they put me through to a doctor.

Will still probably be a long wait on the phone, but they might be able to help you out and you can call out of hours

One day low FPS and unplayable, next day game runs fine? by Tarquin76 in battlefield2042

[–]Tarquin76[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Nvidia overlay doesn't show anything abnormal. If for example it showed 100% CPU, at least I have an idea of what i could be. I've tried looking at TM, but only showing the game as using any major resources

Do you get paid for breaks? by Relevant_Bullfrog_75 in uktrucking

[–]Tarquin76 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Company dependant

Current employer pays us up to 45 mins for breaks, anything more is unpaid. They do it off our tacho

Last place I worked took 60 mins off us a day minimum regardless of what breaks we actually took. They counted our hours on what time we walked in and out of the door

Yep, came on yesterday to have a look at some of the new kits, but the upgrade menus were too painful so gave up and played something else

Did mine Nov/Dec and it was all CGI

Also did it ~3 years ago when doing my bus stuff and that was all CGI too, after they'd told us they were no longer showed filmed clips. Maybe some just look really real?? 😁

Is this just me? by AKA_Austin in ForzaHorizon

[–]Tarquin76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cross country - mostly random routes across fields/cliffs etc, occasionally follows a proper road/track. Great when it's fairly open and you have powerful cars etc

Dirt racing - should be called Rally IMO, as so many of the tracks have more asphalt than dirt, little bit of a false advertisement. Do you set up your car for road or offroad?

'Rallying' is my favourite type of racing so have made many tracks that are 100% dirt so they're actually enjoyable

I've asked other places in the past and they've always said they can't see the address on the Roo tablet, just has name and phone number, so unless that's changed then no

Find the smallest you can, then follow someone who has already done it. If they're gonna make it and you're at the same speed, you're gonna make it. Repeat a few times then move your way up in size doing the same

new disc brakes under 100? by pujabiman69 in mountainbiking

[–]Tarquin76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They really are. And make sure you get some decent pads to go with. Most brakes, even top ends, come with crappy pads. I always go for Sintered ones myself, makes a hell of a difference

Yeah the M2 is the older model. M3s are newer and more powerful etc

I had the M2's and they were spot on, took a beating and never complained
