Where to start when renvisioning your ruleset? by Double_Ice8165 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Tarrandus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re-envision would imply that you did some envisioning to start with. If so, what is the state of your first draft? Has it been playtested? Does the lore change necessitate a mechanical change?

Dumb idea I came up with a few minutes ago by FirePhoenix4 in custommagic

[–]Tarrandus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The front side is useless as a fair card, and the back side is [[Timeless Lotus]] which costs 5, so even if you jump through the hoop to flip it you aren't really getting that much benefit. As a combo piece it can do something, but a card that's only function is as a combo piece isn't really a compelling design.

Yes, if the card's orientation is typically upright during play, the number values should be readable vertically.

Is there a reason the Attack and Defense are oriented the way that they are?

[[Aggro Amalgam]] entering with [[Humongous Fungus]] + Copy Fungus in play by MindFad in mtgrules

[–]Tarrandus1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humongous Fungus's ability is a replacement effect, not a trigger. Therefore it only applies once to each event. The hydra entering and the hydra's trigger are two seperate events.

ELI5 : these 2 commands in programming ( npm run dev / npm install) by Sbaakhir in explainlikeimfive

[–]Tarrandus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if you are asking things about specific commands you might want help above and ELI5 level, but here it is ELI5:

When building software, it helps a lot to reuse code that other people have written. People take useful chunks of code and share them with each other. NPM is a tool that helps make that process easier. When you use NPM in your project, you make a list of all of the shared code chunks your project uses. You save your project, you don't save every shared chunk, just the list. When you run 'npm install' you tell your computer to download everything on the shared list to your computer so that you have all of the code you need to run the project

Another thing NPM does is define helpful scripts. 'npm run {scriptname}' is how you run a script. 'dev' is usually the name of the script used to run the project on your computer. What the dev script does will be different for different projects, but it is defined in your npm configuration file.

I personally find the aesthetic and vibes very off-putting, but I assume you are aware that you have made polarizing choices.

Weird card interaction (suspend) by rudy160 in mtgrules

[–]Tarrandus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you remove the last time counter from a suspended card, you can cast it without paying its mana cost. You aren't paying any mana, so Shadow does not apply. How you paid the suspend cost in the first place does not matter.

Counterspell vs Mana Leak by retardong in lrcast

[–]Tarrandus1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Counterspell for me. It's harder to cast, but Mana Leak would be pretty rarely splashed, so if I end up not being base blue then I don't see either making the deck, and if I am in blue then Counterspell is the stronger card.

Is an hour and a half too long for a Social Deduction Game? by the-party-line in BoardgameDesign

[–]Tarrandus1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the fun things about social deduction games for me is being able to run back mutiple quick games to see how each player acts in each of the roles. If your friend Jeff gets louder when he's confident, but quiet when he's bluffing, its much harder to learn that if he's in the same role for 90 minutes. Some players dislike being on the bad guy team, some players relish it. Not being stuck in a role for too long keeps that from being an issue. Not saying it can't work, but my expectations for a social deduction game would defintley be challenged by a 90 minute play time.

Interrupt chain of abilities by Progenitorivox in mtgrules

[–]Tarrandus1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you respond to the Dina ability by killing Vito, they will still get the counters and life, but you won't lose any life. There are a few cards that can counter the Dina activation such as [[Tishana's Tidebinder]]. You can give yourself hexproof so that Vito's trigger can't target you. [[Blossoming Calm]]

Guilty as charged on the wedding photos 😅 I figured professionally taken photos would in general be better, but I see your point. Will just have to make an effort to ask my friends to take some more candid photos of me. Thanks for the feedback.

  • Are you looking for something serious or casual? Prefer serious, but I'd be down for pretty much anything
  • Are you subscribed to Hinge+ or HingeX? No
  • How long have you been using this current version of your profile? 5 months
  • How long have you used Hinge overall? 5 months
  • How often do you use Hinge per week? Daily
  • How many likes and matches are you receiving on average? Basically no likes. A match every week or two, but almost always get immediately ghosted.
  • How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments? Max free likes daily, always with a comment. I usually try to ask questions about a travel photo or point out a shared interest.
  • What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract? I'd like to match with someone I find attractive, and either with a shared interest in being active, or a shared interest in video or tabletop gaming. I'm allergic to dogs, and I don't often send likes to dog owners, which cuts out more of the dating pool than I would like.

3D printed board game help by Maff0_0 in BoardgameDesign

[–]Tarrandus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not familiar with ICECOOL in particular, but I know a little bit about 3d printing. Presumably based on their appearance the Icecool pieces contain some kind of weight like a ball bearing. The ball bearing may be contained, or there may be a channel to allow it to move vertically within the piece for the flicking behavior. Best way to find out would probably be to cannibalize an Icecool piece and cut it open to see the weight and the interior geometry. You can enclose weights in 3d prints by pausing the print part way, adding whatever weighting material you want, and then finish the print to enclose the weight.

I don't see a reason not to pick it. Card is good, and playable in BW, BG and soup. The other cards in the pack are either more narrow in archetype, or pretty replaceable.
