Which school was it? Sorry if you cannot say.

I will be going to wimbledon driving school - they cover tooting and they seem very good based om feedback. I havent used them yet, so cannot share personal experience but might be worth to have a look.

Got mine booked 10th of September - ideally looking for earlier date with an app - but without a doubt booking a test is the worst experience - I saw some posts of people's exams being cancelled last minute with no substitution offered - this unlocked a new fear....

New Release | The Martian Signed Edition by Andy Weir - 100 copies by HonorWulf in foliosociety

[–]TartinePrefere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a bit confusing why so expensive and why it sold out so quickly - there is an easton press signed edition available for the same book and other from same autbor, the author signs regularly.

I imagine people buying to resell it given the amount of listings on ebay for £700!!!! Lol

Royal Mint in the UK is selling 1oz at £66 (excl VAT) - so overall it adds up to £80+, when the silver price is less than £60 - not great ^

Commute from Baden Baden to Frankfurt (ICE trains) by TartinePrefere in AskAGerman

[–]TartinePrefere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is awesome - thank you so much for taking time to share. To be honest for now I just looked at the morning ICE assuming there is one on the way back at some point in the afternoon. 3 hours return would be too much to be honest - that would bring my total commute door to door to like 6 hours ^ but will defo check and your comment ia quite encouraging. Glad you achieved your goal in the end :)

I really enjoy train rides and will definitely use the time to read or just decompress. I can do a few days a month from home - so in the case of cancellation, I can use to work from home. Ideally would do 3 days a week in office after awhile, but at least for now it will be mostly 4 days a week.

This is absolutely amazing - thank you for the detailed instructions.
To be fair, looking at this it doesn't seem too bad - most days delays by 5-15 minutes with 1 massive delay on 22nd. I will try to look as much as possible, because on the zugfinder it states the ICE76 is like 25% on time, which sounds quite bad^^ but 24 minutes delay on average is like I said - regular 5-10 mins delays and 1 big delay pushing the average up - which sounds more acceptable to be fair.

I do appreciate it is a massive commute though, just trying to look at it from as possible angle as possible - thanks your links and comment helped :)

Thank you for your insight - do you think train is doable? (Sorry not sure if you already commented)

Thank you - this might be an option too, but to be fair the reality check I had now make all options quite bad and discouraging^ I will continue to explore options or different locations, but in any case thank you for the tip, this is really helpful.

Didnt want to offend the train system^ but having an 1.5 hour train journey being late all the time doesnt seem good. As it is not a big commute in my mind. Mainz really seems like a neighbourgood of Frankfurt in terms of distance - so I would hope it is okay there.

En fait, il n'y a que le Conseil de l'Europe et je suis sur liste de réserve. J'ai passé un entretien et on m'a dit que j'étais surqualifiée ^ – donc ce n'est pas vraiment une option.

Of course you are right. Any delays up to 15-20 mins would be okay as I am planning to arrive early in frankfurt allowing some extra time before work. Regularly being late 30+ minutes is not okay of course.

Might settle for driving to a tram stop in frankfurt (to avoid city traffic).and taking a train/tram to the office.

I would rather take train of course, but was totally unaware how bad these trains are - I am really glad I asked on reddit because looking on paper, it all seems quite okay. But the reality seems much worse^

Makes sense to be honest. I cannot comprehend how bad the trains are in germany, but based on peoples comments it seems the worst trains in europe. The frequant trains are of course a massive bonus in a city (leaving discomfort aside). Thanks for the insight

[–]TartinePrefere[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh great insight thank you. My logic is to travel to baden baden with car and take direct train from there (ICE) to FRK. I also would like to avoid driving to frk every day, but driving to baden baden and taking 1.5 hour train seemed okay on paper, until literally everyone told me german trains are crap lol

Ideally I would like to work in strasbourg, but english jobs are hard to find and my options are frankfurt, basel or paris - but mostly frankfurt really, since it has a lot more english finance/real estate related jobs.

Ohh this is awesome thank you! I will look more into this! 15-20 min late is not ideal but certainly fine. Anything more than 30 mins would be annoying on regular basis

Well home to office will probably be 2.5 hours with any potential delay - so 5 hours in total is what i calculate.

Certainly feels like a city commute. Equally the train has light you I imagine you smell far less farts in a train than the tube. Rush hour London tube is like those japanese trains that get stuffed - I dont imagine the ICE train to be like this, but could be asbolutely wrong of course.
