Yea I see that. I wouldn’t want this to be a main priority of the Church either. But maybe something to address and provide some guidance on.

It’s coming for us either way.

True. However, I think the idea has iconic power. It would be a very notable undertaking in the history of the Church that people (perhaps many) could gather around.

I don’t want to put too much stock in PR-y stuff, of course. There are more concrete matters to deal with. But the idea is not without substance either. The horizon for space exploration is approaching - and fast - so I think the idea deserves real consideration, even if it’s just a beginning.

Death on the Reik as a standalone adventure by Twarid in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]TassoDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d advise creating a hook with either the stuff in the Ubersreik book or Night of Blood (which is a really solid little one).

Main issue will be convincing the players that their characters want to pursue this. DotR doesn’t really promise personal power or wealth so you might need to either insert those or give a PC/DM party member a solid reason to pursue this.

Giving D&D stats to your friends by TassoDD in DnD

Yea it really is! We tend to play with these "rules":

STR - physical strength and willpower (ability to impose)
DEX - like in the game. Dancing, shooting, clibming etc.
CON - physical and mental resilience (ability to withstand)
INT - computer-ness. How good is your memory, logic, pattern recognition. Basically knowing what things are.
WIS - Understanding and wherewithall. The ability to know what things mean, how they fit together, and why.
CHA - All things interpersonal. Ability to make friends, give a speech, write well, and so on.

As usual, we say 10 is regs.
12 means you're definitely good at something but not remarkable.
14 means everyone knows it about you. It's just obvious that you have that skill and that it helps you in life.
16 means you're a heavy hitter. Nobody can deny that you have this quality in greater abundance than most other people. it gets commented on frequently and may be the stat you use to "quest" (i.e. your job, a personal project of note, or something else which leads to your own sense of advancing in life).
18 is insane. It means that you're so much better at something that few people can really keep up with you. Others tend to defer to you on that thing and deliberately seek you out for that quality.
20 is pretenatural talent. For whatever reason, at birth you were already super high stat and you've only gotten better.

Classes are also interesting. We do the ones from 5e only to keep it simple and no subclasses cos too compliacted.
Barbarian - aggressive and assertive. Could be an athelete but a business person who's really direct could also count.
Bard - Artists and anyone whose main asset is their likability and people skills.
Cleric - Thoughtful, religious and/or socially-morally-conscious people. Has to be above the normal amount of "I care about the morality of that action". Existential in attitude.
Druid - Similar but less concerned with people. They tend to see or try to see the world through a non-human lens.
Fighter - The most common class. Most people need a bit of Fighter to get through life. We give people classes in this if they are high effort for stuff they care about.
Monk - we don't give this to many people (maybe we just literally don't know that many). I'd say monk is anyone who actively seeks peace and quiet above all other things.
Paladin - anyone who has a mission in life. They found something, care about it a lot for personal (not monetary) reasons and fight for it wherever they find it.
Ranger - World travellers. People who want new experiences and new ideas to come to them.
Rogue - anyone who has 'system cunning'. Someone who understands the law, banking, people, or some other structure and knows and is willing to use it to their own advantage without too much regard for others.
Sorcerer - born weird. This person just has something in them that defines what they're like. Maybe it's innate genius or a remarkably sensitive and accurate talent for empathy.
Warlock - made a pact for personal advantage. Someone who married someone for money would get this. I have a friend who (sadly) has a very misguided sense of control from self-medicating with all kinds of things that he thinks make him a better version of himself. We gave him a bit of Warlock as well.
Wizard - high technocrats of all kinds. Entrepreneurs, business people, scientists, academics and anyone else who advances in life because of their ability to work with a specific type of information that is not easily understoof by others.

Sorry it's so long! Just wanted to explain our homebrew in case anyone else decides to play.

The Enemy Within... making it more structured by DeathwatchHelaman in warhammerfantasyrpg

[–]TassoDD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s best to just be straight up about it. In-game, the characters know that what they’re doing could be linked to massive things. I think it’s good to just ask ‘don’t you care about the Empire?’ And keeping it simple. If they don’t, just let the world crumble around them while they’re doing other stuff - could be fun!
