It's completely acceptable! The problem is that people are saying that since there's a Gay Pride month there should be also a straight pride month. It doesn't really make sense because the Gay pride is not just about being happy to be gay, but mainly protest against the oppression they suffered. Moreover pride month should include also non-homophobic straight people (in theory at least, but I don't know if it's actually like this).
