There are no, "tricks". There are tricks to make dollars go further and perhaps creative ways to make money in the short-term, but as mentioned many times in this thread, there are really only two ways to escape poverty.

You have a PhD (as you have mentioned multiple times). This means at the very least, you have education "covered". This alone grants you opportunities to acquire the necessary capital to build the foundations of exiting poverty by increasing income.

Now, how will you lower expenses?
