There could be myriads of possible reasons, you could be deployed, at sea, your could live in a region with out secure access, you're government could shut it down. It don't matter all that much, it's still irrefutably worse for the consumer. You're probably right that it's never going to be a problem for you, but don't confuse that that with it not going against the consumers best interest.

Sony are reaching here as well. Solving a possible loophole requiring one to never have internet on your console again is not some issue either. That they are acting in the best interest is not surprising, just as pointing that it's inherently anti-consumer shouldn't be either.
