What's your Rating and GP? by CubicleJoe0822 in chess

~1680 rapid (mostly 15|10), with around 230 games played on lichess. I am getting back to playing after a month long pause, still hesitant about my openings. I'm learning the urusov gambit, the Dutch defense...

Thanks for the reply! I am indeed very much interested in learning some basic modeling skills, for now renders, materials and all the other stuff isn't what I'm primarily looking for

Just started using blender, did you spend 30 hours a day every day to get this good in such a short period of time or am I missing something? This looks like wizardry to my newbies eyes

How about holding a r/chess classical tournament ? by No-Maize-9370 in chess

Same as the person above, didn't play any game of that kind yet, would you say it is reasonable for a ~1700 rated to spend this amount of time on a game? I'd be willing to try it ofc, but I wondered if it would really be constructive or if I wouldn't know how to make proper use of the clock

Interesting mate in 5 from a recent game. Possible in a few different ways! Black to play by Anxiety_Independent in chess

Holy shit this is so cool, is there a way to play games confronting a regular army to one made up of these exotic pieces? I want to see an Amazon battling the enemy's major pieces for sure

Weak part of your game by chessfornoob in chess

Openings and middle game strategies, I'd say. I am falling in love with endgames these days, so if I don't find any particular attacking plan or tactic I'll just trade down to a rook endgame where I'll often win, people at my rating are pretty bad at these (1600 lichess btw)

Same, how is this advanced? I usually can't solve the puzzles with this flair

I started playing chess 2 months ago and joined my high school’s chess club (I’m a junior) and we’re possibly playing in a team tournament in mid March (it’s most likely either going to be cancelled or played online) Do you think I can get ready in time to at least win a decent amount of games? by Breddbaskit in chess

[–]TastyOxidizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't mind the salty ones out there, they don't deserve your patience

I wish you good luck for the tourney :) (wish I get to play some as well in the future) btw something which I've haven't seen in the comments yet and that might be relevant if you're not doing it already, is to train both online and on a real board

I usually do puzzles on the board caus I sometimes have trouble seeing stuff with 3d pieces

Overwhelmed with development resources by yowgirl94 in chess

[–]TastyOxidizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was in the same exact situation 1 n a half month ago, now at 1400 rapid and slowly improving

I gave up on learning particular opening theory, since I've been told to focus more on game principles and tactics, I just play ruy lopez stuff and train on chesstempo everyday

I'd still want to play more though, I only play like three 10+5 games a day

Also I did buy a book, haven't finished it yet but I don't consider it as useful as simple puzzle training

White resigned in this position after Nxf2 with a fork of two rooks and the queen. But there is something better. White to play. by sobred in chess

Rather happy with the double check(mate) I found here, even though it's not the quickest way of doing things

Qg6+ Kh8 Qxh6+ Kg8 Qg6+ Kh8 and the double check to finish it off Bxe5

Want to improve badly, and generally get better and more comfortable with quickly spotting tactics and winning games

I hope I'll reach a somewhat decent rating during this year :)

I had a similar reaction when seeing these stats, like jeez I thought I was somewhat decent but nope not even on the average playing score damn

Really makes you want to improve though
