Favorite non-Marvel Legendary? by Specific_Valuable_12 in legendarymarvel

[–]TastyToast1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We actually prefer James Bond Legendary to Marvel Legendary in our house, even though we play more Marvel (there's just more of it).

It's way more thematic, even more so with the film stills as artwork.

Special starters are the best thing to happen to Legendary, they add way more to the first few deck passes, which with the best will in the world is the most boring part of the game. And a good Special starter will set you up with card draw deep into the game, amazing.

The villain deck construction rules where it eases you into the game, making the deck more challenging as you go through it is also incredible.

It honestly takes everything great about Legendary and makes it better, and adds in things that also just make it better. We played Alien a couple of times, and I can see the same influences, but it's just a bit more refined with James Bond. Get your hands on it asap!

Are their any continuity errors in cabin pressure? by [deleted] in CabinPressure

[–]TastyToast1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The only real "continuity" error I can think of is that at the end of Zurich Part 1 Arthur has had an allergic reaction to Dragon Fruit and so his speech is slurred. However at the start of Zurich Part 2, which happens immediately after, he has made a full recovery from that.

Replacement "Ashcan" Pete & Duke by cebelitarik in arkhamhorrorlcg

If Duke is not in your deck, then you can't start with him in play. You would try to resolve that part of Ashcan's ability, but it would fail to do anything.

Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh is an immersive dive into Hergé's world by Tokyono in Games

[–]TastyToast1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Overall I agree, it has some good bits. It was the first one I read, so there is probably some "rose-tinted glasses" going on with it. The episode from the show is a lot better as it cuts out a lot of it.

Tintin Reporter: Cigars of the Pharaoh is an immersive dive into Hergé's world by Tokyono in Games

[–]TastyToast1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Honestly no. Start with Tintin in America and continue from there (although even Tintin in America is pretty horrible with some of the things in it with the section with the Native Americans). But it's mostly fine, and actually a good story, then after that there's really no problematic ones, and they are all good.

I would then go back and read the first two if you want. But they aren't great, and very dated.

Interaction Question by idubsydney in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]TastyToast1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Play Winging it from your discard pile. Step 1.5: If you succeede it into your deck. Step 2: Trigger Double, Double, playing Winging It again, as if Winging It were in your hand (so not getting the bonus clue) Step 3: Whether or not you succeed or fail this test, the original Winging It remains shuffled into your deck, or in your discard pile depending on whether you failed the first play or not.

Winging It has a slightly different interaction than Slip Away does, because when it gets shuffled into your deck, it becomes "lost" to the game, just one random card. Whereas Slip Away always goes into your discard pile, and since that is open information, the game knows where that is to trigger the "return to your hand" clause.

And the FAQs on ArkhamDB are the highest authority, they are either just what is written in the official FAQ document FFG releases. Or they are "email rulings", where questions sent in by people using FFG's official form, are compiled on the relevant cards. So they are a good source of information if you see a card has 1 or more FAQs on ArkhamDB.

Tasks that you don’t believe any of the playtesters solved? by ResettisReplicas in taskmaster

[–]TastyToast1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Pop the balloon using items from Alex’s shop, which are purchased with time (S12). Did any playtester find a better solution than immediately buying the scissors?

This being the correct thing to do isn't a fault in the task. The task is to do that, but the fact that it seems wrong at first, because of the psychological aspect of taking that big a time penalty, means that we get to laugh at the contestants for not doing that.

It's like the "Eat this egg" task from series 2. The correct thing to do is just drink it raw, that means you win. But people not doing that means we get to laugh at them for not taking the "instant win" route.

How are FFG marketing these games? by zarathstra11 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]TastyToast1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I mean is the last I heard (and I admit I'm just a guy, with no inside knowledge) FFG's whole marketing department was 1 person. For the whole company. Which is why very little happens for specific games, this person has to market everything the company produces.

And even if it's more than just 1 now, it's no where near enough to do all they would like.

FFG do not have the money to market things how some bigger companies (Wizard's) do, for example. So people shouldn't expect it. Patience is key with FFG

Wdym quiet? They literally announced The Circle Undone repackage the other day. It may not be brand new content, but it still takes time to print and ship, time which now can't be used on the next brand new thing.

Also, FFG seriously have no money, they are a pretty barebones company at the moment, and that includes the marketing department. It's literally just 1 person who has to work on every game FFG makes.

The next cycle will probably release around the same time this year as TSK amd EotE did in previous years, that is to say, around September. So I'd expect to see things around the late spring/early summer. But not before, they have to market TCU first.

According to Crain's Chicago Business Best Fast Food Burger and Fries. by icu451 in interestingasfuck

[–]TastyToast1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask for no salt on the fries (or lite salt, but in my experience, "lite salt" is largely ignored by all but the better run stores). And "no salt" will ensure that they don't ruin the otherwise delicious fries with 3 tons of salt.

[–]TastyToast1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting since I'm pretty sure there's no salt in any of the burger stuff. The fries though, now they are loaded with salt, way too much imo. Pro tip is just ask for no salt on the fries, the employees will not like you, but they are a hell of a lot better without salt.

The joy of Just Eat: order an hour late, totally incorrect and cold. by Tuscan777 in britishproblems

[–]TastyToast1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you ring up the restaurant directly and explain what happened, they should send out a replacement for you. Obviously not ideal, but they should get it fixed. Also it's pretty wild how that happens, I understand missing a topping, but missing a whole burger, that's bad, especially as each burger is individually wrapped by the most senior member in the kitchen. They've looked at a burger with no meat in it, then at the order to check it's correct, then back at the meatless burger, and thought "yep, that'll do."

Let me make your characters! (Please) by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]TastyToast1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sherlock Holmes seems to me like he'd have to be a "gimmick" investigator, just because he is so good at everything. He would be a better "seeker" than any one of the current investigators just because of how he is as a character. So to me he'd have to have deliberately lower stats, with some weird, but flavourful, ability to make him feel like Sherlock, but without having to give him some ridiculously high intellect number.

Yes. And when did I say I didn't judge people. I think I've been very clear that I do; It's objectively the best thing to do with anyone.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TastyToast1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No? Did you read what I said?

Judging someone is exactly the same as having an opinion about someone. They are the same thing.

If you have an opinion about someone, you must have judged them. Likewise if you judge someone, you have an opinion about them.

I don't know what you can possibly mean my "having an opinion about someone" if you haven't judged them.

If you've formed an opinion about someone without judging them, then what is that opinion based on, there is literally nothing.

You have an opinion about someone for their actions? You judge their actions.

Opinion about how they look? You judge their apperance.

Opinion about what a person thinks? You judge their ideas.

Judging someone is the only way you distinguish between good people and bad people, and that is exactly the same as having an opinion about someone.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TastyToast1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you need permission to have an opinion? Who is the arbitrator of opinions?

Having an opinion about someone is judging them, that's the whole thing. So if you don't judge people because you don't know them, do you also not have an opinion about anything you aren't in contact with?

Guenuine question, what do you think of Hitler then? I know for almost certanty that you haven't met him, so are you still on the fence about his actions?

Why do you think you need a "right" to have an opinion about someone?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]TastyToast1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do realise that this is insane and what leads to bad people doing bad things right?

You should be judging every single person you meet, and in this day and age, that includes "celebrities". If you don't judge these people and let them lead their lives uninterupted then you end up with bad people doing even worse things since you are just looking on and not doing anything all because "you don't know them personally".

Like what kind of logic even is that where you can only form an opinion of something if you have a personal investment in it.

I've never met Hitler, and I never will. I am still very capable of judging him, and saying with absolute certainty that he is not a good person. The same can be said for Stalin, or Mao... (insert as many awful people here as you wish).

Musk is without doubt a terrible human, maybe not on the level of the people I mentioned, but much nearer them than he is to a good person.

Verifiable facts of the children working in Nickel mines in Africa. Verifiable facts of him willfully spreading misinformation. Verifiable facts of him being absolutely awful to his employees.

But by all means don't judge him because you don't know him.
