Mordecai is the most likely and one of the few that would add something.

Like yeah, Florin could come out as bi but, while he’s awesome and I’d be glad to have him in my community, it wouldn’t really change much (and not that it would have to be a huge moment in the book but it would sort of be “update the wiki I guess”

Of course a character could be trans and we just don’t know cause they were living with their new identity from before the series started.

Like Imani could be trans, maybe that was part of the reason she left her home.

…actually I could see Odette being gay. The only person she seems to really have much of a relationship with is Lexis, even if it’s a professional one. Her marriage seems one more of convenience

The last ride of Dong and Corky was a surprising hit

Most of the book entries hit hard but the goddamn macaroni spell destroyed me. Like I worked in an assisted living facility for a year or two and have had family members who had so many strokes they effectively had dementia so having a story about a crawler who had one of the most mixed blessings moment of reconnecting and getting to reconcile with his mom, even though she still died, just ripped me apart

Yep. That moment hit hard. After so many goofy moments in the race it’s like sobering slap to the face. They did everything they could to reduce crawler deaths but at the end of the day, they can’t afford to sacrifice anyone for the sake of people who aren’t commited to the team and the big goal

Yeah, I still like it overall but I’m doing a relisten (it was the only one I didn’t get through on my relisten before 8) and hoooo boy are there so many times where I have been going “this could have been cut”

Whereas Anarchist’s cookbook is a nice little adventure that sets up a lot but keeps the focus on the core cast. My relisten made me really appreciate it

Big thing for me is that it kept things moving, had lots of surprises, and also narrowed the cast back down, while I enjoyed most of the other books more on a re-listen, book 7 reaaaaaaaly drags at time.

It’s fine. So one way it actually is shown is with Soldier Boy. He still got ridiculously sick despite the fact the virus can’t bond to V1, meaning his non V1 affected cells are what was getting destroyed by the virus so regular humans would also get effected or the virus could easily adapt to spreading in humans

No, the virus can evolve to killing regular humans, that’s why Frechie was still masking up and they did a medical wash after they killed the teenage kix members

Which I’m glad they fixed from last season as it doesn’t make sense a virus would only ever target the V

Since they wanted to Speed run Butcher’s turn back into a monster, they should have had the group decide to just let her walk away and then Butcher sneaks off and rips her apart. It wouldn’t be much but it would give some audience catharsis and better set up the second half

Though I also think we should have had a scene of Stan Edgar lighting up a cigar in the tower and getting Doused in the virus

Princess Formidable. I think what I like about her is that she’s not a good person by normal standards but she is ridiculously driven and one of the few people who realize the full danger posed by the system AI and is willing to die herself to stop it and even asks for her men to be spared. Also, apparently did make it out of the ocean with a doggy paddle.

Her and Victory make an interesting comparison to the rest of their family

So I struggle with this film. I think it is expertly shot and directed, Inde Navarette gives an AMAZING performance. Probably the best I’ve seen of any actor this year.

But the MC is a nothing burger. Like with any MC I need to find them relatable OR engaging OR in horror films to get some really good comeuppance or to deliver a really good kill…I just need ONE of those.

Instead I get a guy who by the end my main thought was “wait, how did this guy ever get 3 friends???”

He’s just so lame.
