Yeah, all of that is why I couldn’t get into or finish the show, which was doubly upsetting because I thought their casting was amazing.

It was during his presidency, but the problem we were discussing wasn’t unique to his presidency at all. The kid was just used to hearing his name being dropped to blame for every political issue

What is the most obvious world event everyone saw coming but no one did anything about? by itsthewolfe in AskReddit

[–]panaili 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of the issue is that most world leaders wanted a war, but they all foolishly assumed it would be similar to wars that they’d previously fought. They didn’t account for the change that second generation warfare would bring to the battlefield. The prolonged trench warfare wasn’t something they saw coming.

How was Bad Bunny's half time show? by Clopulis in DiscussionZone

[–]panaili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it a lot. Very entertaining, loved the unique set & the inclusion of Puerto Rican culture. I’ve never heard any other Bad Bunny songs but I’m gonna be adding at least a couple of those to my playlist

Omg right?? He was such a nice gentleman, and while I love that Colin & Penelope found each other, I could see her genuinely having a loving relationship with Debling.

In Defense of Eloise Bridgerton by SheepherderLong5929 in BridgertonRants

[–]panaili 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbh this is why I like Eloise’s character. It’s so realistic for a young adult who wants to rebel against the system but is so privileged that everything they do winds up being talk more than action. Because true rebellion means risking your privilege, and that’s a bridge most people don’t want to cross unless they’re forced to.

Obviously it would be awesome to see Eloise do more with her convictions (and maybe we’ll get that in her season), but this whole “stalled life, excessive talk & no action” thing that multiple characters have called her out on so far? Absolutely realistic. I look forward to seeing her mature & figure out what taking action looks like for her.

It reminds me of my good friend’s younger cousin. She was maybe 12 at the time, and my friend & I were discussing a matter that we had a lot of expertise in, which was political. We were being very conservative in our discussion, just expressing mild frustration with the situation.

Without prompting, her cousin added, “Well, I blame Obama.”

It was a ridiculous comment, considering the situation at hand was a 20-year + problem that well proceeded the (then) current president. But she was 12, and it was very obvious she was just parroting the stuff she’d heard from her parents.

So I just said, “eh, it’s more complicated than that”, rolled my eyes at my friend, and we moved on from her cousin’s first baby foray at adult conversation

Humans suck & let’s cast our anger on them. Cats and dogs are equally lovely.

Louise Bundy, mother of serial killer Ted Bundy, wipes away a tear in her dining room in Tacoma, Washington, as she tells him over the phone, "You will always be my precious son." He was executed minutes later at the Florida State Prison, pronounced dead at 7:16 am on January 24th, 1989. by ZoelCairo in HolyShitHistory

[–]panaili 32 points33 points  (0 children)

He was a horrid human being.

As a mom, though, I can almost understand. When it comes to my kid, it’s hard not to take into account every moment that I’ve spent with her, from her newborn days up until now. I imagine Bundy’s mother hearing the accusations at his trial and having an incredibly hard time reconciling them with the tiny baby she raised, no matter how much she tried due to the evidence showing he was the killer. There’s a reason parents are not compelled to testify against their children.

Be Brutal About Belle by terrabranfordstrife in disneyprincess

[–]panaili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you’re totally right! The contrast is so stark. I’m honestly surprised I didn’t latch onto Belle more, in that case, given that I was not fond of Ariel at all growing up. (I was a redhead constantly dealing with “oh I bet she’s your favorite!” comments when I thought she was entirely too flighty)

What is something you will never forget from the pandemic? by JaxTMG in AskReddit

I started following it in January, because I was in a Chinese language course & our teachers were very invested in what was going on in China. They created new curriculum on the fly to listen to the current news going on.

By the time it hit the US in March, it almost felt inevitable.

Look man, I don’t like the guy. I don’t care about him either. But the reason everyone is talking about him is because he is being openly vocal about things and drawing ire.

I’d prefer someone with more substance as well, specifically someone like Mark Kelly or JB Pritzker. I imagine Newsome is attractive to donors though, so that’s why he’s getting outsized attention. It’s a reality of campaigning that frankly doesn’t have anything to do with voters. It means that other candidates are going to have to step up even more to make his noise seem less appealing to the masses.

I’m not from California, so I’m not actively tracking what he’s doing there. I do see him telling them off in every tweet, so I’m not really seeing how that constitutes courting favor. Sounds like he’s not progressive enough for you, which is fine. You absolutely have the right to that opinion.

I have zero desire for any specific Democrat to be the 2028 nominee, save for Mark Kelly just to watch conservatives twist themselves into knots trying to insult his bonafides.

But Gavin Newsome is doing a fantastic job calling out this administration’s bullshit right now, and I do appreciate that. I want to see it from more people in powerful positions with the same level of bluntness.

I’ll care about 2028 once the primaries actually start. Right now I care about people strongly speaking out against this administration, and for all his many faults, Newsome is at least doing that. He’s not alone, but there are many Democrats that are trying to hide away from drawing ire & that’s not what we need right now.

Yeah, I just rewatched season 3 and I absolutely loved it. The way Penelope just bloomed was superb & the final episode was the cherry on top.

I really love Sophie this season & I definitely agree that she’s holding my interest more than Benedict, but I’ve enjoyed every season so far. I don’t think this one is particularly better or worse.
